Has anyone not gone thru radiation and hormone blockers?
I was diagnosed with stage 2 e pos her2 neg. localized in the milk duct. 1 node taken that came back negative. I had surgery a week ago and am considering not doing radiation or hormone blockers.

Hi
I was diagnosed in 2023 Oct. DCIS hormone positive Her 2 negative Stage 0.
2024 I had lumpectomy 1 node removed which came back negative. I did 10 radiation treatments dbl dose. I did not do hormone blockers. this Oct will be my 2nd mammo post surgery and treatment. So far all is good cancer wise. I have osteopenia so was not sure about radiation. I just had 2 compression fractures in my spine 3 wks ago. See my endocrinologist tomorrow. I am sure the radiation has done something to my bone density. Only you can decide what's best for you. I wish you well.
I had ER + PR + Her-2 negative diagnosed in October of 2018 and had 2 surgeries for a lumpectomy in January of 2019.
I had weeks of radiation and hormone therapy.
I think they don’t tell patients the side effects so you can make an informed decision.
I feel so many things I am experiencing is from radiation and hormone therapy.
Every 6 months I get a Prolia injection for the osteoporosis.
God Bless you are a survivor.
Hi. I had DCIS Stage 0 and had the lumpectomy. No radiation and chemo. I tried the hormone suppressant but cannot tolerate it so it had been discontinued. I’m not taking anything else. I get mammograms and am just being followed by the surgeon and not the medical oncologist. I’m just hoping that the doctors’ choice of treatment is the best for me. I sure hope the best for all of you. Take care.
Two years ago I had lumpectomy for positive BC. Lymph nodes were clear. I did anatrozole for 6 months and stopped due to side effects. My reoccurrence risk was less than 1. This January diagnosed with metastatic BC in my bones. Would I have continued with AI blockers instead of going through this horrible situation. You bet, in a heartbeat. Heck, I would even taken the chemo I was so dreading and didn't have to do! Now it is a battle and cancer continues to spread; medicine hasn't worked. Praying for something that does work.
So very sorry to hear this. My prayers are with you. I had a lumpectomy 3 months ago then radiation. Started tamoxifen. Hate it. Will keep going with it after your post.
Read Dr. Jenn Simmons. Great book. Also, Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy
Yeah, sucks. Forgot to mention, I had radiation too.
If anatrozole gets to be too much you should ask for an alternative. Maybe lesser of evils, but still.
As for lifestyle stuff, I do all that; teach fitness and nutrition classes.
They told me it was just bad luckthat I got cancer. Just great.
Hang in there! Prayers.

I have unstageable left breast cancer hr+ received chemo and bilateral mastectomy with left axillary dissection. I am receiving adjuvant target therapy with herceptin and perjetta for 1 year and will not be getting oral hormonal therapy. 30 lymph nodes were retrieved but one of the two scouts that were placed was not retrieved. First rad oncologist recommended not needing radiation as all tissues and lymph were cancer free and they considered it as a 100% recovery. I did not feel comfortable with that decision and elected to have another radiation oncologist for a 2nd opinion who recommended to go through with radiation. She was very thorough and helped me to understand that since one of the metastatic lymph with the scout was not retrieved, it isn’t a true axillary dissection despite how many nodes were removed so the recent study (which still lack in study time since it’s only been 5 years of data) that indicated people w ax dissection and negative results don’t need radiation doesn’t really apply to me. What helped me to make that final decision is a question my husband asked - he asked me “ with all the complications and chemotherapy and surgery issues you have had during this cancer (this is my 2nd cancer, unrelated to the first one) , would you feel better knowing you went all the way and had radiation therapy but ended up getting cancer again in a few years, or would you feel worse not getting the radiation therapy and ended up with cancer again later?” This question made it simple for me to decide and I will move forward with radiation therapy
Bottom line is that you will need to be the one making that final decision. Have discussion with family who are very important to you so you don’t have regrets later with your decision. You are not alone in this. Will keep you in my prayers.
2023 had lumpectomy and SLNB 1.3 cm tumor stage 1, ER/PR+ HER2-, clear lymph node. I turned down oncotype test, radiation and hormone therapy. I felt like the treatments had far more side affects than benefit in my particular case, so I felt comfortable turning them down, who knows if I made the right decision only time will tell 🙂
