Has Anyone Heard Of Nerve Decompression Surgery
I see this is advertised by a doctor in N. Texas, Dr. Holcomb, a podiatrist that claims she/they can relieve pain with this "innovative" surgery that is performed by only a few docs in the country for some reason. Does anyone know of this? Also, a Dr. Tollestrup in Las Vegas offers "permanent relief" via another or the same surgery. Again, he says he is one---another in FL--of only a handful that offers this surgery, yet I see it on none of the Neuropathy blogs, etc. Anyone have any further information? Dr. Tollestrup claims to have great success. Thanks! Caleb

Please let me know Caleb if you go to either doctor and how it goes. That’s what I believe I need. But finding a doctor willing to do it with no test results showing I need it, my chances are slim. Google the doctor you mentioned. Research all you can. Good luck.
@highdesertdweller - If I understand correctly, you are talking about decompression surgery on your foot. I think @patriciaschulz1950 shared her experience in another discussion here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/1590451/, and may have some additional thoughts or information to add.
Hi - I had a surgery called the Dellon Triple Nerve Release Aug 2024- in Florida. It made my situation worse. Be happy to give more details.

1 ReactionWow, Pat! That is revealing. Yes, Dr. Tollesrup in Las Vegas is a student of Dr. Dellon. Please do give details. Though, those of us who are desperate say it can never get any worse, right. . . . . Thanks so much in advance!

1 ReactionThis reminds me a little of the therapy in which the doctor attaches leads to various parts of your body and then applies current for about 30 minutes. You are supposed to have between 5 and 10 sessions. Didn't work for me. out of pocket cost, no insurance accepted. Seems like it works for quite a number of patients.
@highdesertdweller Caleb, I only know about nerve blocks and ablation. I did look up the procedure on-line. It said to consult Mayo Clinic, and the Institute for Advanced Reconstruction. I have a family member who had some sort of device implanted, but that did not seem to help them.
Hope you find answers. Blessings 💕
@heisenberg34 Wondering if this is similar to using a tens unit. I've had treatments where the doctor wore a special glove that had a current running through it (my understanding) and she rubbed it over my shoulder for pain relief. I can't remember her name. I would try that treatment again. It greatly helped.
@nannybb No, this sounds like a tens unit, but it is a specific treatment for pain. Developed by Dr. Miller at Johns Hopkins if my memory serves me right. I can't bring up the name right now. I'll try to recall it and post it here. Glad the TENS unit has helped. Ooh, ooh, Scrambler therapy is it's name. Ha! the old memory still has it! The electrical impulses are designed to "scramble pain signals so the body doesn't recognize then as pain.
I have been diagnosed with MGUS, small cell neuropathy, and erythromelalgia. Does anyone have suggestions as to treatment of ongoing foot pain?
@heisenberg34 Did you happen to read where researchers recently came up with something like what you are speaking of, but it targets the response area in your brain for additions? People who have smoked, been on opioids, alcoholism and even OCD are basically "cured." I'm wondering what it could do with pain receptors. It would be interesting to see the difference between what you mentioned and the new discovery. Interesting to say the least. Thanks for responding. 💕
