Has anyone had the FDA approved CartiHeal AgiliC implanted ?

Posted by gravity3 @gravity3, Sep 16, 2024

I have cartilage loss and osteoarthritis in my knee. I came across this FDA approved implant and want to give it a try. Anyone know of a provider in NC or the east coast? Cardiheal.com

Platelet rich plasma? I understand that this can have some effects but Medicare does no cover it. I believe it is around 1000 per procedure.

FWIW, I think there eventually will be lt solutions to replacing damaged meniscus and articular cartilage in the knee. That said, I don't have much faith that existing products provide much more than a st fix. Now that's easy for me to say. I had both knees replaced in 2022 at age 67 and the results have been phenomenal. I'm in the gym everyday, I spin and love it and it's pain free, and I've dropped from 190 to 160 because of the spinning and all but eliminating refined sugar from my diet. Rah rah for me........

But if these new techniques to replace cartilage work, even for a year, well that's better than cortisone shots. I'm 70 now and plan on being around for a while (I know, anything can happen, I get that) and don't want to return and have the cartilage replaced every year or two. So for me, TKR is still a better lt answer. I could be wrong and I don't investigate these things because there is no point for me.

I just encourage all to investigate, ask a lot of questions, and if you have a great knee surgeon ask him or her their opinion. If they really are good surgeons, they'll answer.

All the best to knee sufferers everywhere! Joe

I meant to say that Dr Lau said I am not a candidate. The company that bought Cartiheal is Smith and Nephew. I contacted them directly to locate doctors who had been trained. They were very helpful. They will be able to tell you about others who have been trained.
