Has anyone experienced dizziness with medication for PMR?

Posted by lindaadele @lindaadele, Jun 9, 2025

I have been taking low-dose methotrexate tablets for three months and I am experiencing dizziness. My rheumatologist had me stop the methotrexate. Has anyone experienced dizziness from any of medication’s that they are taking for the PMR?

It has been reassuring reading your comments. I am not the only one feeling so dizzy with MTX. I had my last injection 10 days ago and the dizziness is more pronounced than ever. The side effects were awful with MTX. I was happiest on 7 mg of prednisone but rheumatologist doesn’t like me on prednisone as I have been on it for 8 yers.
I am on 8 mg of prednisone and I am due to start Kevzara in the next week. I will slowly wean off prednisone. Any advice would be appreciated.

@lynnfromoro
You have a whole team rooting for you in weaning off of prednisone.

Dizziness is a big issue for me. I do a split dose—4 at bedtime and 5 with breakfast. Prednisone and start kevsara a month ago. I feel more dizzy with kevsara. I am going to continue to see if it gets better.
Any advice on when to take it???

I'm on a fast taper off prednisone from 25mg in May to 5mg by August 4 because of a subsequent SMM diagnosis. I'm at 10mg now, scheduled to go to 9mg tomorrow and then 1 mg drop every week until I reach 5mg. I've been using 3mg LDN for 3 weeks to help with the PMR pain while I wait to start kevzara.

@ll22 dizziness is a really big problem for me and many medication’s! sometimes I have to change the dose that I’m taking, which sometimes helps! many times taking a lower dose really helps!!! I was getting dizzy from a higher dose prednisone, which was just too high for me so I had to lower it. Another example is I was taking 20 mg of LEFLUOMIDE and I was feeling really sick and dizzy so the doctor lowers me to 10 mg and I feel much better even though it doesn’t work as good as 20 mg sometimes you can’t have it all unfortunately. . this whole thing with the medication for me is really no fun because my body does not like most of these medication’s and I have a lot of side effects but dizziness really is no fun at all and as I said before many times lowering the dose with the doctor of course advice may help you out. Good luck to you going forward and I hope you reach the right amount of medication to take with your doctors advice good luck to you.!!!

@lynnfromoro mtx and prednisone got me dizzy at certain doses. MTX got me so dizzy that I ended up in the emergency room because I was so dizzy. The Rheumatologist had to lower my dose of prednisone from 20 mg to 10 mg because the 20 mg was just no good for me.! everyone reacts differently to different medications. I’m sensitive just about everything. Other people could take just about anything. It’s kind of scary but if you find a medication really get you dizzy and you don’t feel good. Just tell your doctor. It’s certainly can’t hurt. Wishing you the very, very best going forward.!!!
