Has anyone damaged their teeth during a seizure?
I recently broke off a section my one of my molars and have no memory of it happening. My dentist told I need crowns for that tooth and the one next to it caused by grinding.
Has anyone experienced breaking a tooth during a seizure or experienced other tooth damage?

@ginnjuice, Hi
I am also sorry to see you go as well! In epilepsy, the journey can change suddenly and be quite harsh on us. I understand you well. This happened to me last year after a status epilepticus. What I did was stay quiet in our group for some time, instead of unsubscribing. It actually helped knowing the support was still there if I needed it.
There's also a way to turn off all email notifications so you won't receive notifications about group activities anymore. That way, you can take a break without losing your connection to everyone. Here are the steps to do it, if you want to try it:
- Go to your profile and settings (top right corner).
- Click on settings and preferences.
- Look for "Notifications and Preferences" in the middle of that page and find the option to "Disable All Email Notifications" (it is the last option).
No pressure at all, though - just thought I'd mention it in case it helps.
Take care of yourself!

I'm really sorry you're having to deal with all of that. Thank God your son is handling it better and the SOB is in jail. I went into a deep depression after a TBI that started seizures and caused memory loss. That was 25 years ago.
My doctor put me on an antidepressant, that brought on more seizures and I was referred to a psychiatrist. Fortunately, the pychiatrist was an expert in head injuries, his recommendation was to work on getting my seziures under control. It took visits to five different neurologists to find the right one for me, that was a big step towards getting my life back.
I don't have the expertise to give you real advice, my best recommendation is to see a epilologist, that's a neurologist with special training for seizures. Contact the Mayo, Joslin or Cleveland Clinic, they will be able to give you better advice. Go to them if possible, get a phone conference if you can't go in person.

I don't wanna be apart of this chat anymore. I'm having seizures more often. Tonic clonic, photosensitive, focal. Thanks for listening by y'all
Reflexes, awareness. I only had one like that. The rest of them I just wake up in the hospital like what are you doing but it all snaps back
Those kind of seizures you do not lose consciousness. It's like a part of awareness is gone. I call it slow
I had my last one may 22nd. The one I had that left me feeling like I'm missing something is the one that came on and just backed off. The back of my head hurts for a week
I have dental insurance and used my max coverage a few months ago. Everything else needs to wait unless there's no option.
I was told two different things about brain cells growing back. It takes about 3 years for brain cells to grow back. I was also told your brain builds "new routes" around the damaged brain area. My answer, based on feedback from 2 neurologists is maybe.
I would love to hear what other people have been told.
