Has anyone had the Stimwave spine stimulator installed?
Hello to ALL! I have a severe back injury and even after three surgeries and several fusions, I am still experiencing severe and chronic pain. My pain management specialist is talking about a spine stimulator. After some research I located the Stim Wave. With this unit, only the leads are implanted. No wires come through. The antenna is worn like a pager on your belt.
Has anyone tried one of the Stim Wave stimulators yet? Any feed back on them?

I would have to ask him. He was working in a warehouse and he tripped and broke a bone in his foot. They jerked him around and kept him on like duty end it did not heal correctly. He would simply not go to an attorney. They won't go in and rebreak the bone and reset it. They put the stimulator in his lower back. He's also fighting for workman's comp pay. Unfortunately a complete victim of the system. I would not consider any sort of electronic instrument until I exhausted possible remedys like nerve ablation.
Like I said, even doctors were duped by the Stimwave founder & CEO, they were given dummies. Nerve ablations are usually required before you can even trial a SCS. It sounds like you don't even know which SCS was implanted. I am so grateful for the Boston Scientific Wavewriter SCS, it's giving me most of my life back. Get all the facts before you comment to others that are looking for help on this forum. I research things especially before offering opinions to others seeking help. At least get the facts straight. Your friend may have a really strong case, especially if he was given the "dummy".
I gave my input. I knew a guy 20 years ago that got one that was the old style, that had the wire that came out of his skin that went to a battery pack on his belt. It gave him some relief, though he had problems with muscle spasms. I'm glad you had great success with your procedure. A lot of people dont. You might want to think twice before you tell everybody what an awesome experience you had,, because they might not have the same. Keep it opinionated. You are talking like its fact.
Well, Why no opiates? Do you get sick with them? Do you take celebrex? Works great ,,but hard on the gut. And I tried taking it at 49.
At 85 years old,, I would consider having as much pain free time as possible in my golden years. But if no opiates is your true wish. I would consider using the supplement company that I use. Manna.com Their tumeric is a life changer. 40$ positive results in days.

Has she considered an opiate? Opiate s are for pain. I know the government has put such a taxing liability on them. But they generally bring relief if the person can tolerate them. I use subtleness from manna com. Tumeric. 40$
Ryan - I don’t know how things were done 20 yrs ago and the Stimwave wasn’t developed until 2010. The query was about Stimwave. Today a trial of 5-7 days with 50% pain relief is required prior to implant of any SCS. I love modern medicine. I need a spine transplant, maybe one day.

Pita - Would you please provide a link for Abbott's SCS lawsuit, I can't find it? I found a patent infringement (over SCS) which Abbott won. I can find suits for baby formula, St.Jude's (which was filed after Abbott acquired them) defibrillator battery, some diabetic test strips, Depakote, etc. but nothing about their SCS device except the patent infringement. I had a successful trial with Abbott's device and I'm to be scheduled for the implant shortly. I'd like to read everything I can prior so I can make an informed decision. Thank you for any help you can provide me.
I cannot seem to locate where I found that article. Perhaps it was the St Jude one or I have confused it with other one. According to the recent news in Dec. and release of their newest SCS, the Eterna would be the one to go with.

I still have not found the article on Abbot SCS lawsuit, but I recall an article on spincord.com titled, Are SCS Worth The Risk. It gives a ton of patient reviews on most SCS going back a couple years and some from this year. Maybe some of that info will be helpful.
