Had a seizure out of the blue

Was on Imovane for sleep for a few years, then was prescribed gabapenitan for leg swelling. Stopped the gabapenitan and had a tonic colonic seizure. What could have brought that on??

How long and how much were you taking? Did you taper off it or stop cold turkey?
Seizure medication should NEVER be stopped abruptly, even if you've never had a history of seizures. Were you also taking Keppra?
Take care,

Can you see a neurologist or epilepsy specialist? Have you had seizures or epilepsy as a diagnosis? All prescription medication tapering is best if done under medical supervision. To stop a medication abruptly is risky

I would suggest not driving because of laws penalties safety for yourself and others.

Yes, thank you. I had licence taken for 3 months till doctor checked me and gave me the clear sign. All tests proved negative. On Keppra now.
