Ha anyone had a Severe vcf with retropulsion?
Hello, has anyone had a severe vcf with retropulsion? Were you able to have it successfully treated with either kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty? 7 weeks ago while exercising I got a vcf, 70% height loss in T7. The pain has not diminished since then. My spine specialist is telling me that these are dangerous to treat with kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty because of the cement possibly pushing the bone fragments into the spinal cord. He seems doubtful there will be a radiological interventionist willing to try. I will appreciate any of you sharing your experiences with me. Thank you!

I don't have experience but my understanding is that kyphoplasty is intended to fuse the loose fragments. Your spine specialist would have a better understanding of the location of the fragments, but I'd get second and third opinions, because it could make a positive difference in pain and function and stability. I'm so sorry; this sounds terribly painful. Is the specialist referring you to interventional radiologists. Is the specialist also ruling out vertebroplasty.

Yes, I was referred to a radiological interventionist. The spine specialist is saying that either the kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty would be risky. Thank you for your comment!
