Does H. Pylori lead to stomach cancer?

Posted by hogan_g1937 @hogan_g1937, Jun 25, 2018

Good afternoon to all, My husband was recently treated for HCC with chemotherapy and radiation. He was recently treated for H Pylori bacteria. in a month he will need to take a breath test to see if the bacteria is gone. I know that this type of bacteria can cause stomach cancer. Has anyone diagnosed with this bacteria led to stomach cancer? Any information on this topic will be appreciated. I fear that he has stomach cancer due to some of the symptoms listed. Hopefully I am over thinking this.

Howdy, Ya'all!I want to let you know that I finally have the RIGHT diagnosis. I'm on Day 10 of the 14-day treatment plan for my H. Pylori bacterial stomach infection and I feel fantastic! The abdominal pain, nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue and weight loss are almost a thing of the past. I've gained 2 lbs of body weight since I began treatment 9 days ago! I feel like I've been given a whole new body and a second chance at life!Thank you all for your support during this challenging, 10-month long living Hell that I wouldn't wish upon even my worst enemy.-kidprodigy

BACKGROUND:

I was diagnosed with a Helicobacter Pylori (H. Pylori) infection in my stomach back on July 1, 2020 after nearly a year of living undiagnosed and in constant pain.

Since receiving a diagnosis, I've taken multiple rounds of combination antibiotics therapy for my infection. They include:

2 x 14-day rounds of clarithromycin triple therapy (generic PrevPac)
2 x 10-day rounds of Pylera (bismuth quadruple therapy)
1 x 14-day round of bismuth quadruple therapy (generic Pylera)

Though my health has improved about 60%-70% since completing almost 9 weeks of treatment, I've decided to continue with therapy until the H. Pylori infection is fully eradicated.

My GI specialist just prescribed a 14-day round of Talicia therapy which I will begin taking tomorrow. Talicia was FDA-approved in 2019 and just launched in the US market back in March 2020 so it's a relatively new drug.

QUESTION(S):

1. Has anyone suffered from an H. Pylori infection? If so, what combination antibiotics therapy did you use to fully eradicate it?
2. Has anyone taken Talicia therapy? If so, was it effective and what were the side-effects?

Thank you for reading this post and providing your helpful feedback!

Hi I have significant abdominal sensitivity and had a terrible reaction to one day of quadruple therapy. Wondering if anyone has been treated with IV antibiotics for hpylori.

I had it back 2 or 3 years ago after going to digestive doc for 10 years with nausea , unable to eat hardly drink anything the last month my hair fell out . I requested Doc change he did endoscopy said must be meds but did not do biopsy, he retired so I got new Doc she heard my symptoms and knew right away did blood test positive , 2 antibiotics gone in few weeks
Symptoms went away I felt like new person I could eat nausea gone.
I am staring to have some stomach issues again going to ask for test be sure it’s eradicated. Great info it heard that kind of treatment

Your GP or Gastroenterologist should be able to write out a special antibiotic regime to fix it completely. Over the last 40 years I have had it twice like this and it completely clears at that time.

I was diagnosed a few years ago with H Pylori, ironically, I was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma on May 2022. I was told the tumor originated in my abdomen and attached itself to my healthy liver.
My liver was resected up to 70% and the tumor was removed.
My Primary Care Physician kind of hinted that the bacteria in my stomach might be the culprit to the HCC.
I am currently stage 4 as it has gone into my lungs and on a rib.
Interesting!

I have been doing quite a bit of research and have been combining yoga with a variety of herbal treatments, dietary supplements; probiotics, fermented foods, and a change in diet. My symptoms are occasional and generally mild, depending on what I eat. I have eliminated caffeine, most dairy products, sugar or sugar substitutes, and have reduced consumption of red meat. I am scheduled for an endoscopy and will rely on the recommendations following that procedure. (H-pylori infection was confirmed by a blood test a few months ago, but I believe I have had this for about a year.)

Someone in my distant family got H Pylori, basically - the person had the Gastro Doctor do the simultaneous Colonoscopy & Endoscopy and 100 % confirmed existence to H Pylori. ( a sample biopsy was done)
Dr had the person take Pylera medication ( it cost nearly 950$ for a 10 day program) success rate is around 90%, it worked for this person.. its been 3 years so far so good, The person has been asked to preferably avoid acidic intake of food.
Best Wishes
