Guanfacine or Other Meds for Morning Adrenaline Surges?
I have been searching for a solve for crazy electric, panic, surges that only occur in the morning upon waking up after about 7 hours of sleep. It's obvious that cortisol spikes in the am to wake us up but my wake ups are traumatic. Not a nice way to start each day. It's been occuring for the last 2 years. I'm a 59 year old female on the estradiol patch and progesterone at night so I'm managing hormones. I've read that a med called Guanfacine (low dosage) might help. Anyone else have this issue and have found something that helps? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Try eating an apple when you first get up. The pectin from the apple helps calm down the cortisol. It works great for me. You also need to get moving to get your body active. Try this before taking a drug you may end up having to taper from and it’s healthy.

1 ReactionI've been enduring this for five years. For me,it started with abruptly stopping estrogen due to uterine cancer. I just googled that med, but I'm apparently too old for it...
