Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle’s full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!
I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven’t yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

When you are going through hell, keep moving.
OK.. @2011panc, @capausz, and @gingerw – you have made my day end with a big laugh out loud. Thank you!! I am grateful.
I am glad I could do it.😊
Today I'm grateful for a clear, crisp autumn day and a neighbor who left a beautiful poinsettia on our front porch last night. Wonderful morning surprise! Hope all of my gratitude buddies have a great day!
Good morning!! Today I am grateful for exercise and being able to do it. Yesterday I was so down that I didn't want to do anything. I finally did a little yoga last night and then got up and exercised this morning. I feel so much better today!
Have a blessed day!
Good morning to all in our gratitude group here. This morning, I am grateful to see the waning moon, and high clouds at 4 a.m. as husband got ready to leave for work. We are expecting heavy storms starting tomorrow through Friday around this part of the country. The blinking navigation lights of inbound planes contradicted sums stars in the early morning sky. Thank you for this group.
@debbraw Must be warm in your neck of the woods as I can recall placing these tender plants in sleeves for clients to take to their cars. I am grateful for that memory from my working days. Thank you.
I am grateful that I still shovel snow. I hate it but I still did it.🙂
@rosegold… I hear you. That's how I feel when I exercise. I have to force myself, but then I'm so glad I did it!
@parus… I live in Florida so it's fairly warm here. The poinsettias did fine on the porch overnight, but I used to live in Boston and remember having to shield them from the cold – even on the way home from buying them to put them in the window! Happy memories for me too!
