Got my stress test and ultrasound results today
I had my treadmill stress test and ultrasound with injections and they said my heart is strong and I have high blood pressure 240/90. Wow! It took 70 years to be diagnosed with high blood pressure all from a stress test. Cardiologist said my pressure I’m having in my lungs is from the high blood pressure so now I’m on amlodipine. Thank God they found out about my high blood pressure. She said my heart is skipping beats so I’ll go to a electrophysiologist next month and maybe he can correct the beats.

Whew, you may have dodged a bullet because high blood pressure can also affect the kidneys and even the optic nerve. It sounds like you have what are called 'palpitations'....is this correct? Sometimes what is called a 'missed beat' is really a premature atrial contraction, or a 'PAC', although there is such a beast as a PVC as well...premature ventricular contraction. Believe it or not, both of these are generally benign if they don't amount to something more than about 3% of all contractions in a typical 24 hour period. There IS some disagreement about that number, and some of the literature says that up to 10% can be PACs (not so sure about PVCs) before intervention. There is more recent literature saying that as a general rule, the more premature complexes of either kind invites more cardiomyopathy and other problems arising from it over time. IOW, it's a linear-like progression.
The other thing is that the patient gets to say when they should get treatment by signifying that the premature beats make them feel awful, or anxious. At some point a sympathetic electrophysiologist (EP) will want to intervene on your behalf because the complexes are so disruptive or intrusive that they seriously degrade your quality of life.
At my last eye Dr appointment I had a 24 pressure in both eyes. Very high. I also had a broken blood vessel in my eye which I think now is from the high BP.
I did hear the rn say pvc.
@riflemanz64 So, it's premature ventricular complexes, meaning the large pumps, the two bottom ones, that pump blood away from the heart. The right side, your right side, pumps blood to the lungs, and its pressure brings oxygenated blood back from the lungs where it empties into the left, your left, atrium. The left atrium pumps blood down through the mitral valve between it and the left ventricle. The left ventricle pumps blood up the large aorta and it is split up and down to the head, arms, thorax, and the legs.
Are you symptomatic? Do you feel thumps or pauses?
I feel a little heart flutter no thumps or pauses. My main complaint was the heavy feeling in my lungs. ER doctor said I have heart palpitations.
@riflemanz64 I am a retired Optometrist and 24 is not "Very High". I suggest you have several IOP measurements and ask the Doc what your optic nerves look like before you are treated for Glaucoma. The broken blood vessel is more concerning...did the Doc say it was BP induced?
I’m on latanaprost for glaucoma. I didn’t know at that time I had high BP or I would have mentioned it. I see him on 10-31 for a pressure check. I’ll tell him then.
