@mikejjb123, I can certainly understand your frustration with gerds and colitis, definitely not a happy experience for you.. I am assuming that you have been to the doctor because you mentioned gerds and colitis. I get these symptoms on and off depending on my stress levels which sets them off, it’s usually treated with medication and dietary changes. I don’t know if it’s related to autoimmune disease but perhaps your doctor can help with that, as for the nausea, it comes with the other symptoms but there’s OTC medication for that like Gravol, best wishes.

If nausea is one-time event or rare occurrence, this could be COVID, Influenza, H. Pilory, Norovirus, or bacteria in the food (Staph) with GI side effects.
This season, I am having nausea frequently with malaise and muscle aches. I use prescription medication Ondansetron or Zofran. OTC anti-nausea medications like Dramamine, or Emetrol should also work.

If you are having these symptoms on a frequent basis, those could be related to your GI or autoimmune disorder. In this case, better to see Gastroenterologist that specializes in immunology as well, like specialists that treat Chron's disease.

I have GERD and Colitis. I felt great for 4 months with no symptoms of anything and then BOOM. Chronic nausea and chest pain. Didn't eat anything weird , different, or do anything odd, including food and drink. Any ideas or thoughts please? I am at a loss. Happy New Year to All.

@mikejjb123 - I moved your post here where you'd asked about some similar symptoms. I'm sorry that you had a good symptom-free time with your GERD and colitis and then now you are experiencing chronic nausea and chest pain with no apparent cause.

I'm tagging a few members who've talked about these conditions who may have ideas for you from their experiences or those of loved ones. @blm1007blm1007 @jackiem95 @rmoore901 @bayarea58 @bsi15 may know if GERD behaves this way and if so, how patients deal with it. @becleartoday also may have some thoughts for you.

@fionadiane @keona619 @dianagump @beva @pamp54 may have ideas for you on whether colitis might act the way you describe, with no symptoms and then a lot of symptoms all at once. @astaingegerdm also may have some input on this.

@mikejjb123 - happy new year. I have issues with GERD and occasional nausea but not colitis or auto immune other than thyroid issues so will address that portion of your question. I became more concerned about GERD with my lung issues so my ID Dr recommended a swallow test (coordinated by my gastroenterologist). They didnt find any aspiration but did recommend an upper GI so I will be doing that soon. I take Rx strength Pepsid but I don’t feel like it helps much. I have some concerns about switching to a PPi but it might be an option. Interestingly enough the speech pathologist did mention Reflux gourmet which I know others on this site have had good success with. I’m sure you know all the protocol about habits to help with GERD relief. I have the wedge pillow but keep sliding down so just got a small under knee pillow which helps. For nausea I keep Trader Joe’s ginger chews on hand and also have sea bands for acupressure and a relief band which is like a tens unit watch. Good luck with everything. Hope you can get some relief soon.

@mikejjb123 I do not have GERD per NJH testing in Oct. of 2023. However, I do sleep on the wedge pillow on my left side as suggested for us in general and for those with Acid Reflux. I also follow, in the big picture, the GERD/Acid Relux suggested diet. Do this just to be on the safe side.
I do know that the medications for GERD/Acid Reflux are best not to take long term. Overall they are prescribed, suppose to be, for those showing areas that are needing to be healed from having been irritated by the acid. Once the areas have been healed, it is my understanding one comes off of the medications for GERD/Acid Reflux. If you are thinking of taking the medications, if you haven't already, research various aspects regarding the med's on the internet....to see what you can find and double check my understanding.
So sorry things changed for you.....wishing for you to find and be given the answers you need.
Barbara
