GCA and Vision Loss - Computers for the Blind
I have had PMR Dx since 2020 and I recently was DX with GCA-Vasculitis. I did not have cranial symptoms, so for now my vision is OK. I am currently on 10mg prednisone - so I do have that as a visual side effect.
I want to tell everyone who has visual loss due to GCA about a non-profit known as ComputersfortheBlind.org they have special software on their computers that are configured especially to support the needs of people with vision problems. I understand that everyone who works on their Help Desk is also blind, so they better understand how to walk you thru your problems. Please check them out and find out if you want to get on their list for a free computer.

@jabrown0407 That is really cool! Have you used one of these computers (just to try it out)? Where did you learn of the computers? I’m going to look up that organization just for my own interest! https://computersfortheblind.org/. Here is the website.
@becsbuddy I live in the Dallas area and the organization is in the community I live in - which happens to be the headquarters for Texas Instruments also. There was a short feature on Computers for the Blind on a local TV station. I have a retired friend who is a techy and he was looking for something to do. I suggested he reach out to them to see if he could volunteer. He now goes twice a week to reimagine the PCs - so that's the story. I have not seen or tried a computer, just visit with my friend about them some. Learning more each week about them. I see my friend at breakfast one or two days a week - there are around 15 or so who show up for breakfast when we can on any given day - loose knit but it works.
