Gabapentin and Cymbalta

Posted by jeanniem @jeanniem, Mar 15, 2021

I am taking 300mg of Gabapentin twice a day and my neurologist seems to feel pretty strongly that I add 30mg of Cymbalta. Does anyone else take this combo? I really hate adding new medications!

Dear friends in pain…. To all of us, my prayers go out. PRAYERS DO HEAL BUT NOT ON OUR WISHES... . Gods..... 🙏

To your GAB AND CYM. Togetherness?

Well, Have taken both. 60x2 and 300x2 am pm
Gab is just not for me as much as I wanted..
You see, GAB as is CYB, work to QUIET THE NOISE” THE DRUM NOISE” IN OUR BRAINS. IT ALSO TARGETS
FIBRO myalgia. Unlike, say, ASPIRIN OR TYL, which work on the brain receptacles to reduce and pain… ADVILS INFLAMMATION….mostly.

CYM works directly in our brains to BLOCK BLOCK PAIN THRU OUR AMAZING BODYS. Ok
Huge huge diff in use. GAB., as I understand works like CYM.i just cannot tolerate.

Upping, MG, as I did , will not work in my case.
For can actually be harmful. Lookup max dosages …. PLEASE READ UP .
I could have easily been in … a serious situation … had I not read why my balance and dizziness was so….. So BAD. yes … be careful.

Am ok now, but not on GAD . CYM I have taken 9-10 yrs since 12-14 yrs of my P- N . peripheral NEUROPATHY FEET. Now HANDS. … ooh my God. Am in pain...
Please pray for me ok

I remain,
Carlos Sierra

I took gabapentin for a few months and developed double vision. Doctors hesitate to agree with me but check deep into the data from the manufacturer and you'll see double vision as a side effect in a very small number of people. I've had two eye surgeries trying to correct it but I'm stuck with it for life, I guess. It means prisms in eye glasses and they are a big help but its not "vision as before gabapentin."

Try taking the Gabapentin at night if it makes you sleepy. I take 600 mg, and I take it at night. My legs ache and are painful at night, this is why I take it. But if it helps you, but makes you sleepy, then take it at night.

Well, can you break it up, part in the morning and part at night ? Would that help ??

I’m suppose to take half mine in morning snd half at night. But since my legs only hurt at night, I just take at all at night.

My doctor wants me to take it 3 times a day.

@pamelaz
The drowsiness will most likely go away or at least decrease. The balance issues will probably improve too as time goes by.
300 mg is a safe dose at night but your doctor may no want you to take all once in the beginning for side effect reasons.
Good luck,
Jake

I take Gabapentin 3 times a day. It doesn’t seem to be helping and it makes me walk weird. Anyone else have these issues?

REPLY

Yes. I take 100 mgs of Gabapentin 3 times a day and 60 mgs of Cymbalta in the morning. Both seem to effect my eyes and GERD.
