Frustrated and Confused re Eating with CKD3

Hello, I have been here many times in the past re my CKD3. Lately I am wondering if I am eating the right things. When I look at what I should eat the portions stated are very small and when I eat cabbage I I cut it up and saute' it but I have quite a bit since it is my lunch. Re protein, salt, phosphorous, etc. I know plant-based foods are better for you but I am still unsure. Can anyone please let me know how you eat on a daily basis, what you have and portions. I would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks so much.

If he hasn't been to a nephrologist get him there ASAP. You can't be too careful and his symptoms require that he see a nephrologist very soon. I don't mean to scare you and you will be getting more comments from others who have CKD. My best to you. ; )

I'm no pro at my stage 3a. I'm 83 and my gfr improved 18% just by quitting meat. I eat a little fish occasionally, tons of veggies and fruit, nuts, grains, salads, a little mozzarella or yogurt. I'm varying my diet as much as possible. I inform myself on the medical sites often. I can tell when I'm off, because my ankles swell and I ache. This is a real pain but it all seems to be working for now.

You do sound like a pro with your diet. It's the portions that I am concerned with me. I eat cabbage (sauteed) (spelling)?, I'm not a lover of fruit but I try, fish maybe two times a week, very little red meat and I might not eat it anymore even though I only eat it maybe once or twice a week but not any more! I get trail mix but I have no control with it. Lately I am eating spinach with about two eggs. Maybe a bit of mozzarella, some pasta but not very often. I watch my salt very closely, my potassium is good, I love beans but they have a lot of protein, some cereal but I'm very cautious with the salt (most of them are loaded), some oatmeal with high fiber but a bit too much sugar but I really need the fiber. Coffee - two cups but I try to get 40 - 60 ounces of water. My neph. wants me to drink 64 ozs. but that's no easy every day. Peas, potatoes (high protein). My diet is very boring but I do my best. I have an appt. in July with my neph. and I'm very curious what my GFR will be. I'm concerned this time as I usually am. I love my doctor but I worry about my creatinine and proteins in my blood. I would love to speak with a nutritionist who specializes in kidney disease. I know, I'm rambling. Any advice is always appreciated. : )

I cook almost every thing from scratch. My oatmeal is the irish style, I add fruit and nuts and almond, coconut milk, it's very high fiber.

Hi, I'm from Mongolia. I'm here for the first time. My son (24 s) has kidney disease. Frequent bloody urine and protein loss. Now that the creatinine is high, what medicine can I take to reduce the creatinine? Please help

You and your son are not alone. Does your son have a doctor, the one who diagnosed his kidney disease? Maybe you can ask that doctor to recommend medication to lower the creatinine?
