Follow Up From Long Term Pac and PVCs

Posted by rr1967 @rr1967, Jul 4, 2023

Hello all.
I have posted in this forum before and I thank you for sharing your stories.

From my previous post " Long term PAC and PVC sufferer..."

I recently had one week Zio patch monitor completed. The results were normal but I do have a 1.5 percent burden and they are almost all PVCs. EP gave me Diltiazem and I tried it for a week. It seemed to work and I decided to go off it. Things were great for another week, but during bouts of stress or anxiety, the PACS flare up again.

I do not want to back on the Diltiazem as I am already on two blood pressure medications and my BP is good. Not sure what else to do. Working on reducing stress and anxiety, but any flare up of another health condition then sets off my PACs for days before they settle down.

I am a huge video gamer and I have noticed the PACs increase when I am in the midst of an intense battle. Then I have to put the game down and within an hour, the PACS are gone or really reduced. I also get a flare up right after I eat a meal...even a healthy one!

My EP says that this is all normal and not to worry. All lab work, EKGs, etc have all come back normal with the exception of PACs.

Thoughts please and thank you!

Your heart is weary of, and irritable over, many hours of adrenaline washed video gaming. If I were a betting man, I'd bet you have gone short on sleep because you simply couldn't bring yourself to leave what seemed like a good game going for you. That's more stress.

My advice is to use what works, and to perhaps consider a change in habits and lifestyle. I'm not a gamer, but I'm a rabbit holer on Youtube who just recently went down a rabbit hole until 0300 hours. Thankfully, I only do that once or twice a year, and don't go until 0200 like I was just three years ago. It's too hard on an aging body.

I, too, get some indigestion now and then after a meal. Either eating too much or the wrong thing, or too much alcohol with a meal, things I stopped doing a few years ago. Red wine is death for me. Bending over to tie shoes after eating is also bad for me. I gained weight over the past 18 months waiting for ablations. Thankfully, the last one 18 weeks ago seems to have 'taken' and I am good and beginning to exercise MODERATELY once again.

Do you want control of yourself, or your predilections to control you? It's that simple.

Thank you Gloaming. I do not play video games at night at all. It is usually early evening or late afternoon. In my previous note, I mistakenly stated that my Zio patch monitored all PVCs, but it was actually PACs which are very benign. I am making changes to my life again.

You are right about sleep as I can't tell you the last time I slept six hour straight. I usually fall asleep around 11pm, then wake up real briefly at 2 or 3am, then go right back to sleep until about 6am.

Thanks!
