Fluconazole to treat candida
My last sputum culture showed ‘candida’ which, my doctor says, is normal airway flora. She added that because, however, of my recurring symptoms she could put me on an anti-fungal called fluconazole. The treatment would be for a “long time”…2 weeks to 3 months.
I’m wondering if anyone else has had this medication and if I should just wait and see how I feel after my last dose of antibiotics before adding another medication to my life

When my sputum culture showed candida it was not treated but I was not having symptoms. I eat yogurt everyday, sometimes twice a day.
Thanks for that info. I just haven’t been feeling well for weeks but I’m going to give it a little more time and see what happens
As many have said in the posts, everyone is different. Candida can get out of control and cause problems you don't want. I had systemic Candida in the mid 80's after having had to be on liquid antibiotics for a week 24/7 and did not know I had it until it grew such that it caused all kinds of problems for me. The prescribed medication for it was the only way I was able to clear it out.
Thank you so much for your feedback!…I’m beginning to feel a little better so maybe this latest ‘thing’ is beginning to clear up on its own. I’ll keep a close watch, however, thanks to your information.
