Flecainide--fatigue, weight gain, some brain fog
I have been on flecainide for about 5 1/2 years. Initially my dose was 100 mg twice a day. I became very fatigued. I told the Dr. and they reduced my dosage to 50 mg twice a day. I felt a bit better. My afib is now well controlled. However, after one year I gained 10 lbs. I continue to gain weight--over 15 lbs. since I initially started flecainide. I continue to have less and less stamina and seem to have brain fog at times. I'd like to know if anyone else has had similar issues with flecainide or whether my fatigue is related to something else.

I have been on Flecainide for about the same amount of time, starting at 100mg 2x day and then to 50mg 2x day about 18 mos ago. I have never had an issue with this medication, and it’s probably my fifth anti arrhythmia drug over the years of my afib, SVTs, etc. I know of course different medications can affect ppl in different ways but I know two other people on it with no side effects as well.
Maybe something else is causing your symptoms..?
I was on Flecainide for three months when suddenly it caused me to go into ventricular fibrillation. I was in intensive care for three days, fortunate to have survived. Neuropathy developed two weeks after this. Be very cautious when on this drug.
I started flecainide, 100 mg, after a cardioversion 1 1/2 months ago, then went into afib again. Another cardioversion was done. Dose was increased to 150 mg. After 3 days I'm still in a sinus rhythm, but have the same symptoms you have mentioned. It is some comfort to know that it may be the drug and not my heart. I can't even walk a 1/4 mile without getting fatigued, muscle cramps and slight headache. Have a Dr appt in 3 days to discuss options.
Flecainide probably was the cause of my husband fainting and crashing my car into a telephone pole. If your brain feels weird, check with your doc. It should not be that way.
I don’t take flecainide but the 2 weeks I was on Eliquis I refused to drive the car. The confusion fatigue lightheadedness and so much more was too much for me from the moment I took the pill and for the next 5 hours. Then things were fine until the next pull.
Unfortunately, my husband did not realize the seriousness of his brain fog, and totaled my car after taking flecainide. It also caused him to be dizzy and unsteady when first prescribed, prob at too high a dose.
