Finger fusion surgery issues

Posted by zebra26 @zebra26, Oct 4 12:49pm

Anyone out there that had middle finger fusion surgery? I had mine done 7 weeks ago surgeon just put on ring finger splint due to finger still bent.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Finger about 80% fused at this point

@zebra26 I’m happy to try and help you out but you didn’t really pose a question. What issues are you experiencing filling the surgery? Is the end result supposed to be a complete fusion? Was the bent position pre planned by you and the surgeon? Why did you have it fused?

Hi
Reason for the fusion surgery was that the DIP joint was severely deformed from arthritis looking like a mallet finger. After 6 weeks into recovery the surgeon had to remove the pins in finger leaving it 80% fused.Finger is not 100% fused so it is bent down requiring the oval finger splint to be placed.I was asking if other people found this to be normal procedure after fusion surgery. Hope I clarified my original post.
Thanks
