Fibromyalgia/Chronic Pain and OCD connection

Does anyone know if there in a connection/link between fibromyalgia and OCD? After my fibromyalgia initially was triggered from a car crash I began noticing some OCD symptoms. A few years later I had another injury occur which basically doubled my pain levels. Once again, I started noticing my OCD symptoms intensify more. Has anyone found out why this happens or if there is a connection between fibromyalgia and OCD?

After 40 years of FM I have never had OCD. Too much pain I think. Best of luck.

Hi,
My fibromyliga was caused from a car crash too, and I have spinal damage, and yes I have OCD. Since the crash I am constantly checking the doors and windows are locked for sercurity. I don't know if there is a connection to fibromyagia, for me it's my form of control over my safety, after the crash which was 11 years ago.

I have left from my home to drive to work or to go somewhere in a taxi and turned back to check the front door is locked, and will go inside the house to check all the doors and windows are locked. Also, securing any lids on jars, the knobs on the gas cooker so the gas is not on, the door on the washing machine is shut too many times before the wash goes on, sometimes I get anxious over it. I wasn't like that before the crash.

Have you spoke to your GP or a counsellor about it?
