Fever and chills after Rifampin

I just started Rifampin Sept 1. 3x/week. Plan was to add in Ethambutol and Azithromycin after 10 days. I am having fever and chills flu like symptoms after the Rifampin. Has anyone else had high fever from Rifampin. Is there an alternative treatment as I don’t think I can continue. So depressing. My doctor said hold off for now.

I had chills with Rifampin My doctor switched me to Rifabutin which does not seem to be a problem for me.

Thank you for the reply. Glad you’re tolerating the Rifabutin. Did you run fever with the Rifampin? Mine went up to 102.7. Felt terrible. I was hoping for an alternative. Maybe my Doc will try the Rifabutin but I thought it is a cousin to Rifampin. I sure hope there is something that’s effective that I can tolerate.
