Feedback on Linzess for Irritable Bowel-C or Chronic Constipation
I have both of the above-conditions. Took Linzess, (called Constella in Canada) and got terrible stomach pain. Feeling desperate and thinking about trying it one more time. Interested in hearing what kind of experiences other people have had with linaclotide/linzess.

Tried all the strengths of Linzess - none worked for me.
Senna did nothing for me. Tried Senna S and it worked for a while but stopped working.
Do you have hypothyroidism? Speaking from personal experience with hypothyroidism I've learn how it causes constipation. Also, for me, it made Mirylax and Linzess useless because it's a motility issue. It slows motility to an absolute crawl which leads to constipation. Once I went on synthroid my gut started to move again. My GI never connected the dots. I also learned that the muscles involved in having a BM get out of sync so they contract instead of relaxing when you try and go. They can be retrained.
I have had chronic constipation all my life until I discovered Natures Sunshine Lower Bowel Stimulator.
All natural herbal formula. NOT a laxative. I take one morning one at night. Recommended by my Naturopath Doc whom is also a DO. Creates a very natural urge for a bowel movement EVERY day. Usually first thing in the morning without fail. NEVER diarrhea!
This has been life changing for over 6 years. I have recommended it to others with the same results.
There are 2 formulas..one is vegan.
Both are great. If you have it auto shipped, it is cheaper..about $16.00 for 100 capsules.
I never connected those dots either but am now going to ask that I get non generic thyroxine, not the cheap one anymore. This could be my answer.
Just make sure that if you have other symptoms of hypothyroidism that a doctor treats your symptoms and not your numbers. The range for normal is very wide. The entire time I've been on thyroid meds I've been in range. Also, my endocrinologist stated that generic drugs are allowed 20% variability between them. He prescribes only name brand synthroid because the most minute amount can cause a significant effect.
Just at the PCP yesterday. I questioned the labs done with generic thyroid and they are fine. The doc won't change me to Synthroid even though my hair is falling out and my nails are splitting and breaking. I am stuck.
Sorry but Cascara Sagrada is considered a stimulant laxative. I would not continue taking this supplement on a long term basis.
I would tell the PCP that they are not doing their job. Can you find an endocrinologist? You may need to change your PCP. Don't be afraid to argue with them, respectfully of course.
