Just before her procedure, the doc prescribed Rifaximin, which was very effective and she had no side effects. It was unclear how long she'd have to take it, however, and we wanted out of the two-year hell we'd been through.

Good morning!!! I heard that fecal transplants/implants can cause death? Also that they are either causing people to be miserable if not done correctly. Don't ask me where I heard it from, I remember it specifically, because the doctor was telling me when they were talking about it that it works very well there is not very many problems with it and then I read that. I was horrified!!! Didn't really make me want to have one if I ever had too. I have Recurring C-diff apparently its going to like my body and they were talking about doing that this past time if the last drug didn't work. Not to make anyone afraid of it, but you might want to do your research!!! There may not be a lot in this post but there is a lot out there

@sandyjr I just reread your post and saw that you have Crohns. My doc said that he hoped I would benefit from the FMT for Crohns as well. It would be hard to know since I had C Diff too, but he said he was aware that it is being tested for that purpose and he is optimistic that maybe it will he really helpful for Crohns!!!

Anyone had Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT) for C Difficile? I dont know where to open this topic, not cancer, should I do it or not, 5 bouts of c diff in 2021, 3 hospital stays, 1 c diff now, vancomycin for 6 months, off it for 2 weeks, that's when I got c diff again, now, what the hell to do, I'm 75 and terrified

- Prolonged courses of antibiotics
- A fecal microbiota transplant that restores healthy intestinal bacteria by placing another healthy person's (donor) stool in your colon, using a scope or tube. Research has shown fecal microbiota transplant for C. diff has a success rate higher than 90 percent.
- An intravenous infusion of an antibody called bezlotoxumab may be helpful in certain situations.

Is your doctor suggesting FMT for you?

Yesterday he said no, he doesn't even know who does it ,I'm in Tampa, Fl, tomorrow I start another antibiotic, I forget the name ,it starts Clin,I don't have it here with me, 10 pills, $5M, expensive, hello insurance, and I'll still be on vancomycin for another week, just got off it after 6 months vicious cycle
