Fearing risks of Prolia
I am going to my pcp tomorrow morning to discuss whether to start Prolia or Jubbonti after getting dexa scan results showing my osteoporosis has gotten worse. I took Ralaxifene for the last 2 years and it didn't help. I have researched these 2 drugs and have read a ton of bad side effects from patient reviews and I am really nervous to try! After taking Boniva just one time in the past, I felt like I was ran over by a truck for 3 days and I refused to ever take a biphosphate again. I am thinking about not starting a new drug and exercising more. Any input is much appreciated!

I was on Prolia for nearly 3 years. Seemed great at first, but then I started having horrible bone pain and hand spasms a few days after each injection. When I went for a wisdom tooth extraction, osteonecrosis of the jaw was confirmed. I have been off Prolia for 18 months and a recent DXA scan has shown a massive decline in bone density in spine and hips, which is likely due to resorbtion after stopping Prolia. Yet I have a friend who has been on it for 5 years without side effects.
From my experience, I would avoid it if you can but, if you do need to take it, insist on regular checks with your Dr. Once in your system, Prolia is there for life, which is another reason why its use should come with a substantial warning.
If you are in the USA, Dr Doug Lucas (find on youtube) has excellent protocols for diet, supplements and exercise
There are lots of comments on this thread, which talk about terrible side effects with Prolia. I suspect that, if you've had problems with Prolia, you're more likely to speak up. I don't in any way want to belittle those comments, but I do want to provide some balance. I've been on Prolia for three years now without problems and with good results. My sister and a friend, who are both physicians, have been on Prolia for much longer than I have. They too have had no side effects and good results.
I hope you will have our same results, if you decide to take it.

2 ReactionsI tried Boniva years ago, and I had the same effect, felt like I had been run over by a truck !! I have been on Prolia for 5 years, no side effects. I am now taking Jubbonti, last 3 doses and no side effects. I am concerned about problems with my jaw. I had a molar pulled last year. It had cracked a second time after a repair. The dentist wanted to do a root canal and put in a peg ? I chose to have it pulled but there is a small fragment left. I am concerned I may have further problems. My jaw has shifted slightly. I am 79 years old.

Hi, I live in Canada. A few months ago the drug company switched to Jubbonti. I am having no side effects, so I do plan to stay on it.
@leanne004
Will you be taking it long term
@gravity3
Yes, I will unless I experience troublesome side effects.
My bone density has improved. I also walk a lot on hard pavement. I take natural Calcium supplements (AOL),
eat cheese and yogurt and Vit. D3 2000 IU.
