@fdan, thank you for starting a new discussion about the use and risks of D-Mannose specifically for people with diabetes. I have added the discussion to the Diabetes group (https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/diabetes-and-endocrine-problems/) as well as this Kidney and Bladder group.

D-mannose supplements should be used with caution if you have diabetes. It may make it harder to control your blood sugar. High doses of D-mannose may cause kidney damage.

In short, more research needs to be done, but D-mannose appears to be a promising nutritional supplement that may be an option for treating and preventing UTIs, especially in people who have frequent UTIs. Always tell your doctor about any supplements you are taking, including natural ones and those bought without a prescription.

Fdan, do you have type 1 or 2 diabetes?
