Fatigue & brain fog after migraine-how long?

Posted by roseann4z @roseann4z, 2 days ago

I find after a migraine episode my fatigue-postdrome periods last 2-3 days. If you add that to pre-migraine & pain days, it’s taking up too much of my life. I am experiencing anxiety. I am 71 on Qulipta & Nurtec, take a beta blocker too. Supplements as well. What are your experiences-how long are you down.

Unfortunately my migraine turned out to be pseudo tumor cerebri aka Intracranial hypertension. I have had surgery but I am worse post. I get Botox for migraines. It hurt a lot the first few times but then started working.

Before starting Botox, I had a migraine that lasted for 6 months. The fatigue was debilitating and depression was severe. After Botox was started, it took over 10 days before I had any energy at all. With Botox I have occasional breakthrough migraines during the 3 month cycle - which I treat with Ubrelvy as needed and injectable Aimovig once per month. As these headaches are of short duration, I don’t tend to have lingering effects. While Botox doesn’t work for everyone, it works for many.

I failed Nurtec and Qulipta. So I only take Propranolol for prevention and Reyvow for abortive. Now with the season changes, my postdrome is confusing. No point in taking the abortive since to get optimal results (4 hours of pain relief) I must take it at the onset. So with the postdrome hanging on, I just roll with it. But not at all fun. Dizziness and some brain fog. I have taken Lexapro for years for depression and I think that it also helps with anxiety. Have you tried low dose Naltrexone? LdN. Must be made at compounding pharmacy. I don't know if it helps. My daughter swears by it. It's not expensive so I take it just in case there is some benefit.
