Faslodex. has anyone had pain during the injection w/ lasting lump

Posted by tdesantis @tdesantis, Oct 20, 2023

I get the Faslodex shots on each buttocks at same time. This last visit (3rd) one of the shots pained me going down into my foot. Thinking she may have hit a nerve! It hurt for almost two weeks and the swelling is still at injection site. Over two weeks later. I am trying to rub it away but it is not leaving. I am afraid my next shot is going to be awful.
Anyone have this happen??

I’ve been getting this shot for over a year with only one instance where I felt discomfort running down my leg as though the sciatic nerve was irritated. It was short lived and I told the nurse. You may want to do the same - call and let them know. Perhaps you can put hot or cold packs on it…your team should know. Hope you feel better soon!

My nurse at Tufts in Boston always left the medicine out to warm up to room temperature and administered it a bit slowly. Much more tolerable. Hope you feel better

yes, i think she did it fast this time. And we did not ice before or immediately after. I could hardly walk after it was done.

I don't take that particular med, but I do get an octreotide injections into the buttocks every 4 weeks. That area always feels bruised for the next few days. They rotate sides each month, but it leaves lingering small lumps inside that even show up on my CT scans. They tell me to massage the area and use hot packs. These injections have to go deep into the muscle and one time a new person gave me the shot and it wasn't deep enough with all the liquid staying just under the skin. It felt and looked like a ping pong ball under my skin for two weeks and then it slowly started going down, but the medicine was wasted.

After that, even though it felt rude, I declined having that particular person give me any more injections. They are important and expensive and it was wasted. So, now they know there are only two people I will allow to give me the injections. So, take note of how you feel based on the person doing the injection and don't hesitate to request a certain person each time. Good luck!

I just started getting the Faslodex injections, I got the 2nd one on the 16th. The first one I had no issues at all but the 2nd one was a different nurse and I too ended up with lumps on both sides, they are still there. The right side didn't hurt but the left side hurt from start to finish and I did speak up. I think she must have injected into the incorrect area. I hope the lumps go away before the next injection. I wish they allowed requesting a specific nurse at the cancer center I go to.

My Lump is still there. although a little smaller... 3 weeks later! I get my 4th shots this coming week. Hope it goes better. I will be sure to ice before and after. Good luck to you! I think when I complained it hurt she may have put it in faster? Not sure. Wish this was a pill!!!

I get my 3rd shot in the series tomorrow. I sure hope it's a different nurse. Its better but makes me wonder about the efficacy of the injection if it is "pooled" like that. Wishing you well! I don't do well with the oral meds. I am going to be started Kisqali soon in conjunction with Faslodex. I hope i can tolerate it. Good luck this week!

I am on Faslodex and Kisquali. My Creatinine has climbed out of the normal range, liver enzymes are climbing very high. Either have to have a dose reduction or discontinue this protocol
I am very depressed. This is my 6tth protocol.
