Family member with new hearing loss issue.
My family member has just developed hearing loss. The doctor said she would need hearing aids. However, she has very little money and can't afford hearing aids. Does anyone know of any federal programs or any church programs that would help her pay for hearing aids? Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you so much!

I had OTC hearing aids for the past 3 years. Although the company I retired from insured them in late 2023, they dropped that benefit since. Now my hearing loss has grown, to moderate-severe, and I need "real" hearing aids. To exacerbate the problem, I have just lost one at age 87. Financing them is a huge problem. I live in Illinois. Does anyone have a suggestion?
....I hope I am not giving you the incorrect information but recently I got some very very expensive Aids (am in Canada) - long story - the technician was amazing and I did ask what was done with returned ones, or such ..... I think they said they don't "reuse" which to me is a shame as what do people do who cannot afford them! So I started checking Internet and it said the Lions Club accepts Aids no longer needs - locally they said Walmart has a drop off for used eyeglasses and that they accept hearing aids too: So am not sure if this is a good suggestion for you but just did another check:
Result: "The Lions Club runs a Reconditioned Hearing Aids Program that provides refurbished devices to individuals who cannot afford them. How it works: You must apply through your local Lions Club or directly to the Lions of Illinois Foundation. A Lion or local social service screener will evaluate your financial situation.
Again, just trying ot help and if it works for you, maybe you could let us know? Hope you get the help you need... J.
