Family member with advanced sarcoma abroad: US second opinion?

Posted by maluh @maluh, May 2 10:49am

Hello,
thank you for allowing me to be part of the group. My uncle lives in Spain and he has an advanced sarcoma that stared in his leg and now metastasized. He does not speak english so I'm trying to find any options here in the US for him.
Can anyone guide me on how to make an appointment to get a second opinion? Anyone is familiar with abroad cases and if I could help even when is not here? thank you so much.

Hello....there is a "Virtual Second Opinion" done by Cedars-Sinai Hospital in the US that is done on line via their website. Hopefully you have electronic versions of his health record, scans, or doctors reports that can be sent in for review. Use this link for more information.....

@maluh, I am just reading your message today as I was vacationing in your uncle's beautiful country, Spain. If he would like to seek a second opinion at Mayo Clinic, here is where to get started. Fill out the online form to schedule a phone call with a scheduler at a time that suits you: https://mayocl.in/1mtmR63 or in Spanish https://www.mayoclinic.org/es/appointments

To request an appointment at Mayo Clinic, international patients can email intl.isit@mayo.edu or call +1 507-738-4021. The International Appointment Office is open Monday through Friday, 06:00 – 20:00 U.S. Central Time.

Mayo Clinic has many doctors and staff who speak Spanish and interpreters are available.
