Family during Surgery
I have a procedure scheduled in Mayo@ Jax.. I was told that I need to be in the hospital for 48 hours max.
Will they allow my spouse and kid (12 years) to stay in the room?.. While I am making arrangements for the hotel stay, Family wanted to be with me after the procedure. Any inputs will be helpful

As much as your family wants to be there for you, I recommend a hotel room for them. A hospital room does not have room for two guest to stay overnight, plus luggage, etc…. You will need your rest and they do also. They will not get a restful night sleep in a hospital room, and if have to travel after your stay, you want them rested so are able to take care of you when discharged. Not to mention being able to take a shower. I can imagine a 12 year old is going get very bored in hospital for 48 hours.
Trust your care team in hospital to look after your needs during your stay. Your family is just a phone call away.
I found the handbook for hospital, and it does say that one overnight visitor may be allowed if best for patient. The brochure also has phone numbers, you may try calling one of the numbers and ask.
