Eye burning

Posted by brendagwilliam @brendagwilliam, Apr 27, 2023

I have been dealing with this eye burning for over a year now. I have seen every type of eye specialist it is, and finally was diagnosed with mgd. A couple months ago I had a procedure that was supposed to drain my eyelids because they were blocked! Money wasted it did nothing as of today I’m still burning and using Systane PF eye drops! I was also informed I have a immune deficiency. Seen rheumatologist, allergist ophthalmologist, optometrist, family doctor and to no avail of help from any! I have noticed lately when I eat they seem to burn more, is anyone else going through these symptoms, please let me know I would love to hear a possible solution or suggestions! Thank you

Allergies? Geez, you’ve been through a lot. Did anyone suggest punctal plugs? These are placed in your tear duct right in your eye Dr’s office and can keep natural tears and drops from running out of your eyes too quickly (but only if that’s part of the problem). Good luck!

Thank you, and the only procedure I’ve had is a lid lipo, I remember the receptionist calling it eye massage and the diagnosis was Meibomian gland dysfunction which is (MGD) I personally still don’t think that’s what it is I was on ointments with a steroid for almost a year also other eye ointments and I’m still doing the drops! At this point I’m just looking to God to deliver, bc it seems like this is a problem that’s too big for doctors!

I also have burning eyes, but mostly at night. The eye doctor said I dry eyes, with clogged eye ducts. I did have the procedure to unclog. It helped a little, but for the price I was hoping for more relief. I do systane drops during the day, and systane drops with oil at night. It does help.

It could be there is more going on indeed. “Just” dry eyes (which is horrible on its own) is easy to diagnose for an eye specialist. Dry cornea is easy to see. You might want to be checked for Thygeson. (I was diagnosed with Thygeson recently (besides other issues) and I had burning eyes too. Thygeson is rare and difficult to diagnose. The eyes are not red and the dots can be so small that they are hard to detect. Now on steroids which seems to help somewhat).

Thank you my friend for this info, I have Dr’s appointment soon and I will be directing all of the info I’m receiving from my new family(lol) from mayo connect, to him for testing for several patients that are going through similar issues of my own. Thank you again!
