Extremely high white blood cell count

Anyone have any idea what would cause an extremely high white blood cell count of I believe it was either 10 or 14 is what the doctor told me.
He was an E.R. doctor and told me for more info to make an appointment with my regular doctor. Problem is I don't have a regular doctor so I have to go thru that process but I want to know about this NOW! UGH!

Hi @hmariec85 There can be any number of reasons for elevated white blood counts, including infections, inflammation, injury and immune system disorders. There was a reason you went to the E.R., so that may have a bearing on your blood count.

If you don’t mind sharing a little more, what had you seeking care at the E.R?
