Extreme Tiredness after ischemic stroke?

Posted by grrranny @grrranny, Aug 1 3:00pm

Every day I wake up feeling totally drained, and stay that way all day. Trouble sleeping at night, even after a year. Anybody else?
Any solutions?

I’ve had TIAs for years and yes, I am tired afterwards but, I make myself get up and get going to get my energy back up. Setting only makes me weaker.

May I ask why you've had continual TIAs for years? Is it an A-Fib problem that's generating these? Or can your doctors not find an adequate source that they can treat? My wife is in a similar boat, with her docs (from Kaiser) throwing their hands up in the air, saying there's nothing they can do.

My doctors,, 6-8, have no idea why I have them. That is why I plan to undergo another round of exams by a team at the Mayo Clinic. Additionally, I’d like to know if these condition of small blood vessels is hereditary, as my mother suffered the same condition, small blood vessels and extremely high blood pressure.

By the way my heart is that of a younger man and my most recent heart cath revealed that my vessels are clean and clear and healthy and so is my heart. High blood pressure - no one knows why. My mother had the same, TIAs and high blood pressure. A sibling of mine has the same, TIAs and high blood pressure. I’m still thinking that it could be heriditary.

@william1954 what are the symptoms that your wife has?
My symptoms are I get dizzy and pass out. While getting dizzy it feels as though a hand large enough to cover my back is pushing me forward and down and then down I go. And even as I’m going down it still feels like I’m being pushed. It is just the effects of the TIA. Having TIAs make me weak and, drains me and makes me weak, weak enough that it makes it is a struggle to get up. My mother had the same. She. Also had a fever as a small child and was not expected to survive it. My flight in the Air Force was given scarlet fever and I had a serious fever as a child and I think these fevers may have attributed to TIAs but it is only a suspicion.
I want to get to the bottom of the cause of these TIAs so I can be done with them. I’d like to live longer than my mother did.

Are u on medications and if so what did they put u on? Curious if it was similar to what they did with my husband who had a stroke and my mom has had a few.
