Extensive oozing/weeping on face, ears and neck
I've had this a few times before but this time seems worse. Oozing/weeping of sticky liquid on my forehead, one cheek, neck, and earlobes. I tried to get it to stop with cold compresses for 15 minutes on each area but that seems to make it worse. Neck is super itchy too! I am trying to clear with water -tried cool and then tried lukewarm but neither seems to stop it either. I have put vaseline on top but now it is just greasy and liquid. Face, ears and neck are light red (picture doesn't seem to show that). I do feel that my swelling is deflating a bit as there is loose skin now compared to what felt tight. I also have experienced more eczema rashes the last 2 days.

Hope you feel better soon. Have you had a chance to see a dermatologist if you PCP can't make a diagnosis?

1 Reaction@tillymack I saw the Dermatologist 2 days ago when it was starting and he suggested the cool compresses. Now it worsened.

1 ReactionI think you need a correct diagnosis so that you can be treated effetively. It sounds like you'll need to contact him again and politely report that the cool compresses have not been effective and ask for a diagnosis (what he thinks are causing these symptoms).
From what you say in your post you have eczema so perhaps this is related. Maybe you could find a dermatologist who specializes in eczema or related skin conditions but this should not be necessary.
It's disappointing how many doctors seem unable to help with diseases or conditions well within their specialty. Then when all seems hopeless, you suddenly find a good doctor who has the answer.

2 ReactionsWELL, THAT SOUNDS TERRIBLE. I CAN'T BE OF ANY HELP AT ALL EXCEPT TO REMIND YOU, WHICH YOU PROBABLY ALREADY KNOW, IS TO MAKE SURE YOUR DERMATOLOGIST IS A MEDICAL DERMATOLOGIST AND NOT JUST A COSMETIC ONE. SOMETHING I HAVE TO REMEMBER WHEN I FINALLY MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. HOPE YOU FIND RELIEF SOON.
That must be terrible for you to put up with. I'm so sorry you are going through this! It's good that you are seeing a doctor about it. However, you also might research your symptoms on the Mayo Clinic Website. They are very good and thorough. Also look up all the side effects of your medications, any vitamins, supplements or facial cream that you may be using. Doctors don't have the time to do this kind of research for every patient. I did similar research for conditions that my husband had when he had lung cancer and found several issues that the doctors hadn't seen. When we informed the doctors of them, they could act accordingly. It helped my husband a lot.
Prayer also helps. God made you and he can fix you. I'll say a prayer for you also.
I wish you the best.

1 ReactionI had a squamous cell growth over my ear, on my hairline. My dermo said it was a fatty tumor and sent me to a
cosmetic surgeon for removal. I didn't like what I was hearing and called my MOHS dr. at Mayo who advised my dermo to do a punch biopsy which revealed a squamous tumor. I had surgery soon after with head and neck surgeon at Mayo...big incision down the side of my face but it healed great. PET showed it had gone into a neck lymph node. I followed with 20 radiation treatments and lost a nice patch of hair over my ear. That followed 2 years of Libtayo infusions every 3 weeks and now its under control. So, don't take no for an answer...be your own advocate and research Mayo site and see a second dr. if you don't feel served.

3 Reactions@louisejewell Did yours start with oozing/weeping symptoms? I have been having swollen lymph nodes as well and they were checked a few months ago but the nodes showed up normal. I appreciate your reply. Thanks so much.
@tillymack Thanks for your response. I've now had an infection in three areas so I have been dealing with that over the last week.
Yes it is disappointing that the derm. can't help me narrow it down any further.
@pml Thank you for taking the time to respond. Yes, I pray a lot. I don't use much else but will check into anything else I can think of. I feel I am missing something. I have been able to keep the rest of my body under control with the eczema. The neck and above seems like a different 'animal'. That's what my intuition is saying.
@414barney sort of...it was different than any squamous outbreak I ever had and I'd had a dozen by then...all in head, neck and chest area and removed by MOHS. But the one on my forehead hairline was white, soft and mushy and stung. I tried using my effudex cream hoping to diy but thanks to my persistent dermatologist who called me 3x and told me to get it removed, I finally went to Mayo in Jax and was in the chair for 7 hours while they dug and dug. It looked horrible but didn't feel that bad healing. They highly recommended radiation to make sure it wouldn't come back. I did 20 rounds and again, it was tolerable but lost my widow's peak hairline...comb over time. My mistake was waiting too long for treatment and it did morph into my neck lymph node, cause another lump by my ear that required surgery and more radiation followed by Libtayo immunotherapy which did the trick. On it for 2 years now and scans are clear. So get to a cancer center dermo and get the best treatment you can.
