Experiencing abnormal ALT / AST ranges taking The Big 3.

Experiencing abnormal ALT / AST ranges taking the big 3. Was off these meds for 2 weeks and markers have improved but MD wants to switch to other meds. However, reading about the safety and efficacy of Clofazimine and Arikayces can be daunting. I want to give the Big 3 another go. Any suggestions on how to keep my liver healthy? I have read starting 1 of them at a time and already focusing on diet. Thoughts?

Are you also on rifabutin because I had to stop that because of very elevated liver enzymes. Rifabutin was replaced by IV amikacin for three months and I was fine.

Thanks for the reply! Glad to hear you were fine with the replaced med. I am taking rifampin in addition to azithromycin and ethambutol. It appears to be primary meds for treating MAC. I am fairly new to all of this and evaluating options. Tks again!

When I first started the Big 3 several different things on my bloodwork were elevated but came back to normal after several months. I think our body has to get used to all the medication that is entering our body. When inhaled Amikacin was added there were no changes in my bloodwork.
