Exciting Improvements on Connect

We've been listening and working hard to make improvements to Connect in response to your feedback.
Today we're excited to release a significant set of improvements. They are now live and ready for you to use. Well... maybe not quite perfectly ready. You see, with technology comes glitches. So you may notices changes, but also some things are working perfectly yet.

Here are two of several things I'll be introducing you to over the next few days.

1. My Profile, Bookmarks and Account Settings
The new Profile page allows you to make your profile page more meaningful for other members to get to know you. You can:


  • Add a background image.

  • Include a brief summary about yourself. What do you want people to know?

  • File your Bookmarks. Have you ever read a message that you'd like to bookmark? Keep them all in one place to find them easily.

  • Follow Groups and Pages.

  • Set your Notification Preferences more easily and with more options such as by email and digest, digest only, on site notifications only, no notifications


2. Daily Digest
One of the most significant improvements will be your Daily Digest. The items you follow will be better organized. The more you tailor your settings to follow specific groups, the more tailored your digest will be.
Please note: you will not receive a Digest on May 11. The new digest will re-start to show up in your inbox early morning on Friday, May 12.

IMPORTANT:
All email notifications sent before Wed. May 10 go to an error page and not directly to the discussion thread. This means you will have problems when trying to catch up on older messages. Our apologies.

Any messages posted since the update work properly and as you are used to.
To see the messages from older notifications, I offer this (rather clunky) workaround. It’s okay for short threads, but not so good for long threads.

For email notifications pre-dating May 10:
1. Click the group name at the top of the email (just below the Mayo shields).
2. Choose the discussion thread from the list.
3. Scroll to find the message.

Colleen, I can no longer 'highlight' or pick anyone's name with the @ symbol. Not working from here. I have rebooted, etc. and it continues. Just FYI, Scott

Thanks Scott. Can you explain what you mean by highlight? Do you mean that as you type the @symbol plus someone's name, it is not auto-appearing?

Yes. There used to be a dropdown menu that would appear as I typed, but now it is not there nor does it highlight if I add it (the @name manually.

Great. We're talking about the same thing. I noticed the absence of that useful auto-fill feature too and reported it to the tech team. It will be re-instated. Thanks for the feedback.

If anyone notices features or functionality that they once had and have since disappeared, please let me know.

Thank you for these improvements. Will there be an easier way to get on the seminars? Ways to tell if they have been delayed or cancelled? I've gotten on 3 out of 5 that I signed up for.

Hi Sally Sue,
In fact, we did make a significant update to the Video Q&As as well as. I will be writing more about that in another post. In brief, the signup process is much easier and all in one place. The discussion will appear beside the video window, so you can follow the comments along with the video more easily.

As for the delays, these are getting better too. The technical issues leading to delays have been worked out. Some delays however are not technical and out of our control. During the event, if there is a delay, we will endeavor to inform all registered participants.

I'm relatively new here, but when I read that there were 6 updates, for example, to the Bones, Joints & Muscles Group, I have to go all the way to the end to find the most recent comments. Is this something I can change in my profile?
