Have you been able to get Evusheld? Or find where it is offered?

I am an immunocompromised rheumatoid arthritis patient. If you are immunocompromised have you been able to find the drug EVUSHELD. It is used to treat immunocompromised patients as a measure to help prevent COVID and its serious side effects. Major news outlets are reporting supplies at Mayo but no medical professional I have spoken with knows where to get it. It must be acquired with a prescription from a doctor. News media (Kaiser Health News, New York Times) also report that pharmacies and doctors have supplies that are going unused.

This has been the most helpful information I have had so far. Mayo Health in the community where I live is under the direction of Mayo Rochester. Mayo Rochester is giving Evusheld via a prioritized criteria and I do not know where I stand. Thanks again.

Happy the information was helpful for at least one person!

It was a journey but I got it today - felt like the day I got the first vaccine dose!

I am over 70yo, dx with MCD, taking 3mg of Tac 2X day. My PCP is affiliated with a major university hospital. According to her resource, I don’t qualify for the Evusheld treatment. I live in Cincinnati Oh, any idea on how I can get this additional protection?

@codered032 I moved your question about Evusheld to this existing discussion so you can connect with others talking about criteria for getting and where. I think @gingerw might have some experience to share about Evusheld and kidney conditions.

Codered, did your doctor explain why you don't qualify for Evusheld? Have you had 2 vaccinations and 2 booster shots?

@codered032 My nephrologist had turned to my oncologist and suggested I get the Evusheld shot. This was in mid-February, before they "upped" the dose to 300 from 150. So, I received the 150 dose. The cancer center I go to had 96 doses at that time. I understand there will be more availability at some point in the future, but not sure the criteria they are using. Many people have found themselves wanting the shot and not able to get it. If you look at the April 23 post from @someguyinny he lists a website you can go to and see what is in your area.

I googled "where to get Evusheld in Ohio", and got this site to look at: https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/healthcare-providers-and-local-health-districts/for-healthcare-providers/monoclonal-antibody-treatment

Do you think your medical team feels you are stronger than you realize, and are providing the shot to others, first?

Thank you for your support. I was not given a reason why I don’t qualify. My PCP summited the request. I received a txt back stating I don’t qualify. I will f/u with your recommendation.

Colleen I have had all of my vaccines plus booster. No explanation as to why I don’t qualify for Evusheld. I am over 70 and being treated for CKD. Thank you for your support.

There's a site built by a Microsoft engineer that displays info about where in your state Evusheld is available and how much each site has. It draws its data from the COVID-19 Public Therapeutic Locator, but gives the info in a more user-friendly form. I've known a number of people who have managed to find Evusheld or one of the post-infection therapeutics using the site. I cannot link to it because I am a new member, but you can find it by Googling "Rob Relyea Evusheld locator." You will find an article about him, and near the end of it a link to his site. The site does not ask you to register or pay -- it is free for all to use, just a public service.

(Note to the moderator: I understand you are trying to protect users here from spam and information, and that you might wonder whether the link I'm posting is to legit info. Please check out the info I've given above and the site itself. )

Hello John,

I found Connect because I was looking for information about what qualifies people for Evusheld. The Evusheld EUA says "moderately or severely immunocompromised," but does not spell out what conditions qualify people as moderately immunocompromised. I know of quite a few people with Crohn's and other autoimmune diseases who have asked their doctor whether they qualify for Evusheld, and have been told that no, the drug is only for transplant patients and others who are severely immunocompromised. Others have been told no on the grounds that "there's almost none available" (and I know from our site that that is not true). Doctors do not seem to be well-informed about the drug, either how much is available or exactly who qualifies. I thought that Mayo Clinic might have a site where they really spell out what immune-suppressing meds would make someone moderately immunocompromised, so I googled something like "Mayo Clinic Evusheld immunocompromised," and ended up finding this group on Connect.

I myself am not immunocompromised. I am a psychologist working as a volunteer to help Rob Relyea with his site. I joined this group to learn more about the needs of immunocompromised people. I also thought somebody here might have the info I need -- who, exactly, qualifies as moderately immunocompromised? And I also thought some people here might not know about Rob's sites, and thought I might be able to help a few people by informing the group about his sites (in addition to the Evusheld locator site he has also built sites for locating Paxlovid and the other antivirals). If you are not comfortable having someone who is not actually immune compromised in your group I will leave without complaint. But if I stay you can count on me not to blab all the time about Rob's site -- I'll just give a link to it when people ask for info on locating Evusheld. Might ask a question now and then.

@califuture As for myself, I am an active blood cancer patient, also working daily with Stage 5 chronic kidney disease [unrelated to the cancer], fibromyalgia, and other issues. From what I have read and heard from others, because the availability of Evusheld is tenuous for now, there seems to be a "cherry-picking" for patients in the medical community. As of yesterdsy, I received my first two doses of vaccine Jan and Feb 2021, a booster Aug 2021, Evusheld Feb 2022, and a second booster yesterday May 2022.
