Evista (raloxifene) instead of Tamoxifen.

Is anyone using Evista for Stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma instead of Tamoxifen to prevent recurrence after a mastectomy? It is a SERM, like Tamoxifen. I know that Evista is used as a Preventative for high risk for breast cancer women, but why can't it be used after having breast cancer if AIs and Tamoxifen can't be tolerated? Isn't it better than nothing? I am in a battle with my Oncologist over this. Does anyone have any information that could help me? Thanks

Thank you for your information. I am trying to get a prescription from my Oncologist when I see her, but it seems unlikely from what she is saying.

I've been on Raloxifene for about a month now. I will have a blood test and see my doctor on Friday. I'm assuming she will monitor my blood maybe every 6 months. I haven't noticed anything other than hot flashes which I know is common on this med. And typically, it's at night or when I am feeling a little stressed. I have joint and bone aches but those were happening before from other issues. Hopefully the joint aches won't get any worse. I believe that's common also on this med.
