Every now and then I find myself forgetting to take my blood pressure
I’ve been worried over other health issues and I find myself every now and then forgetting to take my blood pressure meds and that I will find myself suddenly dying alone. I live alone and am on these meds plus statins and I recently had a lumpectomy for blreast cancer too! This has all been overwhelming and I am doing every thing I can to take my blood pressure pills in the morning the way I always do but I forget a couple of times lately, which is really scary.

Hi, @mimigee
Welcome to Mayo Connect. Dealing with several health issues at the same time can be a bit overwhelming. I know this from my own personal experience. And, I, too, have sometimes forgotten to take my meds. What I now do to keep myself on track is I set alarms to remind me at the times that I should be taking the meds. When the alarm goes off, I take my meds. Are you able to try that to see if it will work for you? Do you have an alarm clock or a watch that has an alarm? Like I said, I would miss many doses of my meds if the alarms did not remind me because it can be too much to keep track on with so many things that I am dealing with. Another suggestion is to have a friend or family member call you to remind you to take your meds when it's time. Do you have someone you can count on remind you? Others on Connect may have other suggestions for you as well. Hope you can find a solution so that taking your meds on time will be one less thing that overwhelms you. Wishing you all the best.
I often forget important stuff, too.
When it comes to something like pills, I put them someplace where they're not easily overlooked.
For example, if it's something I need at bedtime, I'll put it in front of my toothpaste. I always brush my teeth at bedtime, so I can't help but see it.
Have you tried some mnemonic like that? Or maybe a checklist that you put in a prominent place?
It will help you feel less anxious overall, too, when you have fewer things to worry about forgetting.
@scottrl, I keep my meds in a pill box, and I, too, keep them in sight. And that helps.I keep them on a table next to a chair I sit in during the day. The only problem with that, for me, is that the pills sometimes become part of the "landscape" so to speak...like background noise. So I tend not to notice the pills so much. It's like living near the train tracks and not hearing the trains anymore because it's something that you get used to, so you don't take notice of them anymore. I think putting them next to the toothpaste is a great idea.
You might be able to get a daily reminder on your cellphone.
I use a iPhone and Apple Health gives me an audible reminder at 8:30 daily to take my statin. If I don’t clear the reminder, 30 minutes later it starts chirping.
I would think there is something similar for Android phones.
I set up alarms on my cell phone.
1. for my med for my stomach
2. 30 minutes later the rest of my morning meds.
3. And blood pressure
4. Calcium 4 hours later
5. 7 pm evening meds.
This is the only way I remember.
Wish you the best and if you can figure something else out please post it.
When I set an alarm in my android, I type in what the alarm is for. And, like the iPhone, it gives me an audible reminder of what the alarm is for. If I do not clear it, it gives me about three additional reminders (repeating the same information) every 15 minutes.
My iPad sounds an alarm that keeps going until I acknowledge it. If I don't acknowledge it after about 15 minutes, it turns itself off. So, I purposely set a highly annoying alarm that forces me to quickly acknowedge it.
I set the alarms on both my phone and my iPad so that I have a back up in case one fails to go off.
Hi
I would put the pill out the night before.
But I question why take morning when BP rises early morning. So I would have it at night.
I put ou 2 PRADAXA at night for 10pm and 10am. If I go off to sleep before I find I'm having it at 2am etc. Of course I should set my alarm.

Set up a routine every day to take your meds.
Keep the meds in a place where you can see them. It sounds to me that you are sabatage prone. Please be good to yourself, and take your meds. Love and like yourself!
