Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

Wow. Well I guess I better sho for some prunes. Sheesh can they be put into something. Or just pop them in the mouth and chew them up! Much larger than a raisin or cranberry.

@patwerthman I eat them stewed, but also put them in oatmeal or a bowl of yogurt. It’s quite a lively natural sweetener this way. I didn’t particularly care for the texture either, but I’ve gotten used to it.

I just thought of this…I might chop them into smaller pieces before stewing them. That might make the texture/feel more palatable.

@beachesanddreams well I just bought two containers of prunes! I had to go to 2 grocery stores, as the first one was temporarily sold out of them. So I went to Woodmans and they had a big selection of them. I tried them on the drive home and they weren’t bad at all. 4-6 is a reasonable amount. I like the ideas of putting them in other things as that changes up meals and snacks! Thank you

Thank you so much. I’ve had a couple people, one a retired cardiologist, not in favor of me getting Evenity because of coronary artery disease. I’m so happy to hear you did well and have improvement and no side effects. 🙂 I haven’t heard from my cardiologist.
I wish I wasn’t scared of treatment. Dr said if not Evenity then Reclast. All this mention of jaw pain & other stuff.

@passerby my two cardiologists would not approve me taking Evenity, There is even a black box warning on it, that it can cause heart attacks. I take Reclast.

@patwerthman My pleasure! Crazy that the fist store was out of them; I think women everywhere are catching on! 😂

They are nice and sweet, aren’t they? If you come up with some yummy ways to eat them, keep us posted!

Enjoy! ✨

I was prescribed Evenity in Dec 2025 have taken 3 infusions already. Did some research reading articles and studies, but did not ask second opinion from any other doc. Will see how it goes for next 9 infusions.

@passerby
I did....Because I go to an infusion center for injections, it is covered by Medicare Part B and co-insurance (after a deductible of $257), therefore, my cost is $0.

My honest opinion is that it all depends on each individual's specific situation, medically and financially. My family has a history of heart disease, but fortunately, I have been managing my high cholesterol for years and have tried to maintain a healthy diet, etc. When I decided to take Evenity, I spoke with my cardiologist, who had treated both my parents as well, and he agreed I should take it. Therefore, it made my decision easier. Yes, I was afraid of the side effects; however, I felt I should try. Evenity did help my bones, so it worked for me. Hoping my second go-around with Evenity will be successful as well.

Please let me know if you would like more information.

@arlene7 Glad Evenity has helped you and hope the second round helps even more. I have still not decided what I am going to do about these drugs for Osteoporosis. I have struggled with seizures for 20yrs after a TBI. I have refused those drugs also after trying various ones for 8yrs which did not help & some made the seizures worse.

@laura1961 Every evening, I put 5 prunes in about 1/3 cup of hot water, then microwave for one minute. I let it cool a bit, then cover and pop in the fridge.

I’ll eat a few for breakfast, then finish them as I prepare dinner. I love a few prunes over oatmeal, and I drink the water too. It’s sweet! I know it may seem odd, but this has other benefits too, and works for me. 😂

Thanks much…you take good care too!

@laura1961 - Thanks...I, too, am hoping it increases my scores as well. The decision on which drugs to take is based on each individual's medical history. In your case, I would definitely focus on your health priorities before making a decision. Wishing you the best in your health travels.
