Evenity and bloated stomach!

Posted by jsbob56 @jsbob56, 6 days ago

I finished the Evenity 6 months ago and I still have a very bloated stomach. I have always had a flat stomach! I am considering a tummy tuck. Has anyone else considered this?

Have you gained weight? I associate the term, “bloating”, with gas and/or constipation.

A body composition scan will tell you if you have gained visceral fat, which is common in menopausal women. A tummy tuck won’t help with that but hopefully any surgeon you see will determine if you’re a good candidate for the procedure.

I did gain weight during my Evenity therapy (5 lbs). I did lose the weight but I now have stubborn belly and buttocks fat deposits that are hard to shift. I am trying to address these with diet and exercise. I’ve been quite stressed lately for personal life reasons so my diet hasn’t been as healthy as it could be and I’ve been skipping some of my workouts. I’m hoping this is the reason for my slowed metabolism.

In the past, a low carb diet has worked well for me but I’m not a fan of the approach. Instead, I am focusing on cutting out simple carbs and limited myself to complex carbs only.

@oopsiedaisy Well, I’ve gained 5 lbs over the last 4 months of starting the Evenity injection. I have weighed the same for a very, very long time. When I saw my endocrinologist last week, she said weight gain was not listed as a side effect. My hope is that the weight gain won’t continue over the next 8 months! It’s a real bummer. I pray that this very costly injection does what it promises. Anyway, that’s been my experience. And I’m not starting menopause. I’m 71.

@oopsiedaisy yes you are correct. Probably not bloating. I have always had a very flat stomach and now I don’t. I have read where a lot of people have ended up with a large stomach after Evenity. I do recall about half way through thinking my stomach didn’t look right. I finished the Evenity in January and had major back surgery in February. I was in a tight back brace for 3-1/2 months so I didn’t realize just how bad my stomach was. I didn’t change my way of eating but the only exercise I can do is walking. I have now eliminated carbs and walk 3 miles a day and so far my stomach looks no different. I have considered liposuction or tummy tuck. I am going to my primary doctor and ask him to order a cat scan. I have a neurostimulator so I cannot get an MRI. I would just like to know if anyone else has this problem and what to do about it.

I finished my Evenity injections almost 1 year ago and my stomach is so big!
My thighs have also gotten bigger!
So many of my summer clothes no longer fit due to the weight gain I have experienced!
I did not have this issue prior to taking Evenity!
I believe that they need to conduct a new study regarding the side effects!
So depressing!

@oopsiedaisy definitely gained a few pounds on Evenity and I too have weighed the same for many years. It settled in my abdomen area. I stopped Evenity for other reasons and within a month was back to my usual weight. I know for sure this was Evenity-related.

It's so strange - different bodies, different people, different reactions. This is an odd diagnosis and the treatment plans leave something to be desired.

@bonita55 I gained my five pounds during the first four months, too! It hung around for another couple of months then slowly started dropping. I hope yours goes away, too.

I finished 11 months of Evenity at the end of March. My stomach is still bigger than it has been during my life. My thighs have more than doubled in size. I went from a size 6 to size 12 in jeans. Nothing fits! I recently had my mitral valve repaired and the cardiologist thought I might be retaining fluids, but none of this new weight came off with diuretics. There is an article in The Seattle Times today about visceral fat. Written by a RDN, she recommends prioritizing protein, fiber, managing stress and sleep. She also advises aerobic exercise and strength training. I am sure the Evenity has altered my metabolism. My bone density did go up, but dealing with too many health concerns to have the Reclast infusion.

@nwhiker

Are you saying that you were going to follow Evenity with reclast to keep gains made in evenity? How long ago did you complete Evenity?
