Ethosuxamide: Does anyone know what this drug is like?
My neurologist abruptly added Ethosuxamide to my standard medication of Keppra. I was not having seizures and I dont want another medication. Does anyone know what this drug is like? I need all kinds of opinions, facts, experiences, To make an informed decision.

Hi, @closetmonster93 - talking about this medication and its outcomes and any side effects seemed important enough to warrant its own discussion, so I started a new one here.
Tagging @jakedduck1 @santosha @baldwin7 @rchllmorgan @cbranson3 so they can share any knowledge or experience with this medication.

It's strange that your neurologist didn't explain to you why he was giving you the Zarontin. Have you ever had absence seizures that you know of? How do you know you're not having them?
I had quite a few absences and Zarontin reduced them but didn't control them completely. They eventually stopped and I quit the Zarontin. It has a lot of potential side effects but I never had any.
Take care,
Jake

Hi, Good Morning
As @jakedduck1 has well pointed out, it is strange that your doctor has introduced a new medication without giving you explanations. If I were in your situation, I would ask my doctor why he or she is giving me this medication.
I have never heard of Ethosuxamide before, but quickly researched about it and as Jake mentioned, it is prescribed for absence seizures in children and adults. I send here a link with some information on it: https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/ethosuximide-oral-route/description/drg-20072587
Kind Regards,
Chris
