ET treated with HU and aspirin: How to manage high liver values?
I am 8 weeks into ET diagnosis. TX plan of 1000 mg HU and aspirin. Now platelets down to 350 but liver panel high and GGT. Anyone experienced this ?

That platelet count is good -- congratulations!
But of course you're concerned about the high liver values. Please ask your doctors (PCP and oncologist) about this right away.
Then would you please share what you learn? We all have to help one another through the blood cancer maze.
Our livers do play a role in clearing HU from our bodies.
Remember that our livers have miraculous powers of recovery.

3 Reactions1000 mg daily? That’s a pretty high dosage. Hopefully they will lower that and your numbers will decline. Could it be possible something else is raising your liver numbers? Were they tested before taking HU? Please keep us posted as we are all learning together. Good luck!

3 Reactions@nypara66, hola yo también tomo 1000 al día y 1500 un día. Hace bastantes años ya. No sé si es tan alta, creo que depende de como responda nuestro organismo..
Abrazo.

3 ReactionsYes, ET-CALR, on HU x 7 years, and LDH has been high for past year while basinophils and RBC are now low. I have felt pretty crappy. Platelets remain stable in 400s, tho. My onco appt is Tuesday.
Unfortunately, they switched me to the nurse practitioner because the doc is on maternity leave. I will report back on what I learn later this week.
Trying to feel grateful that I have lived with ET x 17 years with only the attendant fatigue. My guess is that the ET is now progressing.

1 ReactionJust had my annual exam at the local medical center -- with the NP instead of the MD I've seen for years.
The NP was a million times more helpful. I hope you will be equally lucky, Jean.
I am so sorry for the stress and uncertainty you are going through. Please remember that we're all rooting for you.

5 Reactions@alikay, has your doctor managed to help control the elevated liver values? Are they being monitored? How are you doing?

1 ReactionYes! HU reduced from 1000 mg 7 days a week to MWF 1000 mg 500 other 4. Platelets reduced again below 200 and liver improved and I do not have the fullness in my liver area. Now on Saturday and Sunday 1000 mg and 500 the other 5 days. Recheck in 3 weeks.
Thank you for asking.
