Esophageal Cancer: Anyone else?

Posted by puprluvr @puprluvr, Jan 29, 2019

I’ve completed 15 chemo treatments and 1/25 proton radiation treatments for my stage 2 esophageal cancer. I’m jst looking for helpful advice from anyone going thru this past or present. I’m a bit frightened wondering how this treatment will affect me.

My mum was diagnosed with stage 1 cancer of the throat yesterday. She is 87yrd and I am scared of her life if she is to go for the cancer treatment. Is there a possible way that she will make it through?

My husband has adenocarcinoma and he starts chemo and radiation. 28 sep he sees the surgeon In Nashville 22 sep. Port in place. Findings 3 aug. Don't know until talks to surgeon as to surgery after 6wks radiation and chemo or when it will be. Lower mid esophageal junction of stomach. Seems it is not outside. Feedback and suggestions as we go through this. He has started to become more hoarse. We are ready to fight this.
Thanks everyone

Great start!
I might also ask about recovery.
- What can I expect for recovery?
- What do I need to know before surgery?

@linda2007, just has surgery a few days ago. If she's able, she might share more questions to ask.

Armylife, keep that pen and paper close by and jot down questions as they come up. You got this. 🙂

I think so !
Ask the doctor about the impact of anesthesia (if there is a surgery) and opioids (morphine) = I understood that was bad for elderly.
But my friend who is a cardiac surgeon operates on 90years old (depending of the general condition)
