ER PR positive Her2 negative and Ovary removal
Hi all,
In 2019 I was diagnosed ER/PR positive and Her2 negative and mastectomy done on right side. No chemo, no radiation
I am 45 and this month I was diagnosed with ER/PR positive and Her2 negative on left breast. Dr suggested mastectomy, later they decide Chemo or radiation.
I have been hearing more about removing Ovary if it is ER PR positive. Removing Ovary can eliminate Hormonal therapy means no need to worry about meds like Tamoxifen. And also it will drastically reduce chances of ER / PR positive kind of tumor in future.
Anybody out here whose has gone through this kind experience.
I am 45 and have 2 kids so do not care much ovary at this stage of life. My Onco says no need to remove ovary so confused and not sure what to do.
So, I am seeking opinions, suggestion from others if anybody has any.

My Oncologist told me the risk of Tamoxifen increases odds of Ovary cancer is very small. I also seek opinions from Integrative Oncologist. They told me Flaxseeds is very good to ER positive breast cancer so now I take two spoon ground flaxseeds daily. The Integrative Oncologist told me to take flaxseeds for at least 10 years. I’m ER positive and also Her2 positive. Good luck with your journey and all the best!
@tduser2023 who told you that removing your ovary would mean you don't need meds? Those of us who have cancer after menopause still take meds because the adrenals (and fat) make estrogen sufficient to feed cancer.
I thought women have ovaries out so they can take aromatase inhibitors rather than tamoxifen if the aromatase inhibitors are more effective for them.

2 ReactionsThat's right. An AI is needed because estrogen is produced in other areas other than ovaries. You can also take my approach which is to have an shot every three months to suppress ovarian function. It's very effective. I had a blood test and with my AI, I have undetectable amounts of estrogen in my blood now.

Oops hit post too soon…as others have said you still have some estrogen.
What is integrative oncologist?
Integrative Oncologist looks at your body as a whole and recommends you nutrition and supplements. They order you test a conventional doctor won’t. For example, they tested my Saliva thus I know I’m very low in all growth hormone; they also test my body inflammation level; my blood stickiness; the vitamin level in my body etc.
Where are integration oncologist listed under? I am in Newport beach california
Does your health insurance pay to see an integration oncologist?
There’s Block Center based in Chicago suburb. I did Zoom meetings with them. Dr. Block and his wife Penny Block are great! The dietitian is great too. Other part of services are not that good. But at least they order you the test other doctors won’t.
