epuris and black seed oil

Posted by hii @hii, Aug 7, 2023

Hi, I am currently on Epuris 40 mg daily, on month 4 of the 5 required for my treatment. I have started taking black seed oil (2 tsps a day) and wondered if there were any interactions/ if I should not do this? Or, is it fine?

Let me begin by saying it is very good that you are being cautious about introducing and herbal medicine to your body, especially while you are take a long-term prescription. I am assuming you are using the Epuris for severe acne or another skin condition, and as someone who lived with it for years, and then had a daughter who suffered cystic acne well into her 30's, I understand wanting the try anything to clear it up.

Here is what the Cleveland Clinic, an institution well-respected for its inclusion of alternative medications in patient care, has to say: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/black-seed-oil/

Here are some things to consider - there is some evidence that black seed oil can help you, but there have been no scientific studies on humans to figure out what is a safe amount, nor for how long. And no studies on combining Epuris therapy with black seed oil. Any time you add a treatment like this, you should consult your prescriber before beginning.

May I ask how you are doing with the Epuris?
