What can Epstein Barr cause besides Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Hashimoto's?

I'd like to highlight this paragraph from the Merck Manual's webpage: "Rarely, EBV contributes to the development of several uncommon types of cancer, such as Burkitt lymphoma and certain cancers of the nose and throat (nasopharyngeal cancer). It is thought that specific viral genes alter the growth cycle of infected cells and cause them to become cancerous. EBV does not cause chronic fatigue syndrome, as was once suspected."

Is this something you have discusses with your doctor? What has your research shown?

Thank you for the link. I was not aware of that resource.

I clicked to the professional version and search chronic active Epstein Barr. It brought up 90 related conditions.

The customer version is not entirely correct. As an 11th grader, I wish I had gotten it by kissing!

It absolutely does. Anyone who denies this should get mono and then have their life ruined by CFS. You would become a believer fast. It is highly insulting to hear from people (especially supposed professionals) who don’t believe the true suffering of people with this condition. The truth needs to come out sooner than later. Hi, Christiania: I have a good infectious disease specialist, and he says newer research shows that EBV doesn't cause CFS. I was surprised to hear that, but apparently that's the current scientific thinking.

Hello, Bayhorse! Thank you for your comment. I am not an infectious disease specialist but I know my body well. Believe me, when I say that it was ONLY AFTER that I got EBV that my life changed completely. I am sure it was no coincidence. And if it is NOT caused by EBV, can this specialist say what the cause of CFS would be? And what can be done to get rid of such a debilitating disease? Thanks!

I agree with chistiania 100%. We know our bodies, and we know what happened to us. Please share this infectious disease doctor’s diagnosis of what DOES cause CFS and how to cure it. He/she would be a hero to millions.
