Entestro and Carvedilol

Been on coreg since I was 29 yo, I'm 52 now got ICD 15 years ago never had an event until last April 2024, had ablation end of April been on amiodorane as well, just started me on Entresto last November on lower dose, EF has been 37% for many years, my first echo since being on entestro and ablation last April guess we'll see if EF has moved

I think you're going to be very pleased with your next Echo. It's been less than 2 years and I went from 25% to 50 to 55% injection fraction. And I feel great. Good luck, I wish you well.

Thank you I'm hoping so, I sent my EP message yesterday about the Amiodorane, as what's the reason I'm on it almost a year and my next visit isn't even until 2026 so that would be a year and half, and they haven't done one chest xray to look at lungs and twice on blood work since April, definitely needs checked more, I'll keep everyone posted 🙏

I am on Entresto and carvididol for over a decade now.

Some on MCC report side affects for Entresto. My HF doctor really wanted me on it as was for heart failure. I did have some fatigue when I first took it but was told to hang in there body would get used to it. It did and glad I listened to my HF doctor.

Do you see a EP? Amiodorane is a great medications for many. Talk to your medical professionals about the toxicity of Amiodorane.

I see you have a ICD. Did they suggest a pacemaker also. When I was put on Entresto and Carvididol my heart rate went really low (into 30s). But I had a pacemaker and we experimented with what was best rate to reduce PVCs. We found 70 bpm.

I went for 10 years with no ICD episode and then got 5 shocks in 24 hours. Oh boy was that a life experience. Since then a couple but EP HF have all worked together to fine tune my ICD/Pacemaker and medications so now is an isoloated event and usually we can see what happened to cause it and work to avoid it.

Yes I see a EP, I messaged them asking his long more I need it and what the reason is, yes I've read side effects and all, pretty harsh, I also messaged my GP to ask why I haven't had blood work cause supposed to every 3 months and that's not happened, also haven't had any chest xray to check lungs not once, hoping to hear back soon, i live in Savannah GA so hopefully these docs know good, I may try to go down to Jacksonville Mayo and see someone, probably to expensive

Savannah is not too far from Mayo Jacksonville. I have been a patient there since 2006.

They have a world renown EP who is the director on EP and Pace Clinic. The entire division is outstanding and if you can get there I would highly recommend them as a second opinion.

Before I moved to Jacksonville area in 2015 I was driving 3 hours each way from Vero Beach. But once I had my first appointments there I knew it was the place of excellent care and thus the drive was worth it.

What my EP and HF did was work with my local cardiologist sharing information and contacting each other. This worked very well. But my wife and I decided to move to Jacksonviile because we fell in love with a community there (Del Webb) that had a heated indoor lap pool.

I see you are well aware of the toxcity of amidarnone. It is a great medication and does what it suppose to do. I took it for about 1 year and then my EP worked me off of it. I do take a different medication now that works very well that helps reduce tacacardia and PVCs.

Maybe contact Mayo Jacksonville and see if you can do a second opinion by sharing medical information with them.
Good luck!

I was prescribed Entresto about a year and a half ago and it really improved my ejection fraction (from 47 to 69). I’m also on Carvedilol and after starting the Entresto my blood pressure started running very low- like into the 80’s over 50’s range. My doctor lowered my Carvedilol dosage down quite a bit and now my BP is back into the normal range.

That's great, what stage of Entresto are you on, im on the low dose now with carvedilol, blood pressure still kinda all over the place, my EF is like 37, been on Entresto since end of November
