Encephalomalacia

About 3 years ago I had a stroke in my frontal lobe. It affected my language center. I've recently had severe dizziness and had a CT and MRI to determine if I had another stroke. There's no awareness of another stroke. However, the MRI mentions encephalomalacia is present where the past stroke occurred. In reading about encephalomalacia it appears that dizziness and vertigo could result from the condition. Has anyone else had dizziness or vertigo after having a stroke? My ER doctor didn't know what caused my vertigo. Wayne

I had multiple small acute bilateral frontoparietal lobe strokes 9 months ago due to my cardiologist failing to increase my warafin after Double valve replacement surgery requiring a pacemaker. I have been having dizzy spells for months and I have appointments scheduled with my cardiologist and neurologist but Friday I had a huge dizzy spell and dry heaves. I went to urgent care and they sent me to the hospital. Hospital did a cat scan and the results said patchy areas of encephalomalacia in the right frontal parietal lobe and left frontal lobe new from prior study. And generalized cerebral atrophy with commensurate enlargement of the house, sulci and cisterns is also present. I've been having the dizzy spells and double vision for months. Now I'll be seeing my neurologist and having an mri. I don't know what the future holds. I'm already using a walker.

@waynen After seeing a number of doctors and didn't find a solution. I did a search on dizziness and headaches, I came up with vestibular migraines that includes dizziness and vertigo. My doctor said it could be but there aren't any medical tests to diagnose it. You have to go by symptoms. There are triggers that can cause it, including caffeine, alcohol, stress, and signals from C1 and C2 vertebrae. My understanding is electrical charges are sent to vestibular causing the inner ear becomes disoriented. Haven't had dizziness nor vertigo since April, but miss my coffee in the morning.
